Dutch Travel App uses investment to expand AI travel planning to its quarter of a million users

Stippl raises over €575.000 to move forward as the all-in-one travel platform, introducing AI travel planning and a goal of 1 million users by the end of 2024.

Travel planning made simple. This was the vision of entrepreneurs Luuk Verhoeven, Omar Sheshtawy, and Robin van Rijn in 2021, leading them to create Stippl, the pioneering all-in-one travel platform. Launching their mobile app was their next goal, which they accomplished at the beginning of last year.

Since then, Stippl has been in constant innovation as they introduced important new features such as travel reels and social profiles. Now with a quarter of a million users, the goal is to reach 1 million by the end of 2024 and revolutionise AI travel planning. Backing these targets are Marbruck Investments from Australia and Volve Capital from the Netherlands with a new funding of €575,000.

The all-in-one travel planner evolves

Stippl allows travellers to plan their itineraries, find accommodation in platforms like Booking.com, discover or add transportation and uncover tours/activities using GetYourGuide.com. It doesn’t stop there though. Travellers can re-live their experiences by creating instant travel videos using their own travel photos. Users can also follow friends or content creators they admire and copy or personalise their itineraries. In a new twist, the all-in-one travel planner becomes the ultimate travel community where users not only plan their adventures but share and exchange experiences.

Doubling target

The Dutch travel app is redefining the way travellers plan their trips and it has reached an impressive milestone with a user base of 230,000 worldwide, doubling its annual target. Adding to this, Stippl has a robust 70,000 monthly active users, signalling a thriving community of travellers. These are great news for Stippl as it cements its position as a leading travel app that caters to every phase of the travel experience - from planning itineraries in a simple way to reliving cherished memories through instant travel videos.

For all travellers

Stippl is for all travellers, and this means it’s also for those who travel for a living. Travel content creators can use the app to plan their trips and engage with their audiences not only while they plan their adventures, but also after they’re over. Creators are part of the newly updated “Discovery” section.

In this feature, users can access the adventures of the content creators who are part of the platform, see their itineraries, and copy and personalise them to their needs. It’s a great way for professional travellers and content creators to share their trips, routes, and content as they reach a broader audience and generate additional income. “Discovery” is also a premium source for the common traveller seeking some inspiration.

New funding, new opportunities

As previously mentioned, the Dutch company has secured €575,000 in a new funding round led by Marbruck Investments and Volve Capital. This investment underlines Stippl’s international appeal which is now present in 160 countries. Interestingly, Marbruck Investments discovered Stippl firsthand as users of the app.

Adding to this, Stippl is also working on optimising and extending its current business models, potentially targeting subscriptions.

“This new funding allowed us to expand the Stippl team and we are working to reach new heights by focusing on really ambitious goals”, shared Luuk Verhoeven, Stippl’s CEO.

Ambitious goals

Looking to the future, Stippl has set its sights on revolutionising travel planning through AI. By harnessing the power of generative AI, combined with its strong travel planning tools and a growing travel community, Stippl is on a mission to create an increasingly personalised and customisable experience. Furthermore, the team is ambitiously aiming to expand its user base to one million by the end of 2024, alongside growing and extending its established business models through new subscription services and personalized photo books.

“We want to really strengthen our position as THE travel app and THE travel community travellers use throughout the year”, stated Verhoeven.
