Antigua Guatemala, Guatemala
A Spanish colonial town, Antigua is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During your
stay in Antigua, you can see how locals live, learn about local traditions and
customs at popular attractions like La Iglesia de San Francisco. Also, make sure
to check out Los Volcanes National Park - a natural reserve featuring three
volcanoes: Agua, Fuego and Acatenango.

Panajachel, Guatemala
This is your typical small-town Guatemalan town on Lake Atitlan. There is a
substantial tourism industry in Panajachel, but it does not lack in charm. The
streets are cobblestone and there is lots of market action with friendly vendors
offering handmade goods such as blankets, wood carvings, clothing and much more.

Rio Dulce, Guatemala
The Rio Dulce is part of Lake Izabal. Lake Izabal sits behind two massive dams -
at Usumacinta, on the border with Mexico, and El Cajon in Alta Verapaz. These
were built by dictator Jorge Ubico Castañeda during his time in power from 1931
to 1944 to generate electricity for an expanding railway network and modern
cities such as Antigua Guatemala.

Flores Island (Guatemala), Guatemala
Flores Island is easily one of my favorite places in all of Central America. A
two-hour flight south from Guatemala City lands you on an island with white sand
beaches, crystal clear water, great surfing waves, beautiful green mountains,
warm weather year round.

Yaxhá lake, Guatemala
This is a beautiful little town, nestled in a valley under a mountain. It is
known for being an amazing place to experience Mayan culture. The lake itself
was formed after an eruption destroyed most of what used to be there.

Belize City, Belize
The city is buzzing with all sorts of things to do. It's a very cosmopolitan
city with many people from around the world visiting every year. The climate is
tropical in Belize, so it is hot almost all year long. However, there are two
distinct seasons: rainy season (June-December) and dry season (January-May). To
be honest I didn't even think about time differences as we were on vacation.

Caye Caulker, Belize
A small island about 1/2 hour away from Placencia by boat, Caye Caulker is great
for people who are looking for a quick vacation without all of the extras. On
Caye Caulker, you can enjoy fun water activities like snorkeling, scuba diving,
fishing, sailing and even kayaking. For your adventurous side, you can try zip
lining through tropical rainforests or renting jet skis at $25/hour.
