Should I buy a local simcard?
If you want to stay connected to the internet this is a good idea.
There are tourist simcards (preferably Simpati of Telkomsel) available valid for 90 days and sold in official Telkomsel stores. Normal simcards probably don't work as you handphone needs to be registered. You can top up with credits or data (Rp 100.000 should be enough for a stay in Indonesia up to one month). ADVIES HIERONDER
- Controleer de eb- en vloedtijden de dag voordat je wilt gaan. Bij eb schaafde ik mijn been, maar bij vloed was het geen probleem.
- De stroming is sterk, maar niet te wild (ik ben een goede zwemmer). Houd de kleintjes in de gaten, ze drijven terug naar de kust, maar ze gaan wel een stukje verder het strand op. Veel kinderen die in de buurt zwommen, hadden geen problemen, maar hun ouders ook.
- Ik raad aan om je spullen neer te leggen, tegen de stroming in te lopen en je terug naar de kust te laten brengen.
- Er zijn veel snorkelverhuurbedrijven in de buurt, ongeveer 25-50.000 euro voor een duikbril en snorkel.
Wat voor dieren in het wild?
- Veel vis en koraal, gewoon door je hoofd onder water te steken.
- Met een beetje geduld zie je een schildpad! (Houd in de gaten waar groepen mensen samenkomen, ze kijken er waarschijnlijk naar)
Persoonlijke ervaring
- Ik ging er rond 10:30 uur heen (het was 8:00 uur hoogwater)
- Ik lag op het strand bij restaurant Santorini
- Ik ben gewoon de zee op gewandeld
- Ik heb heel veel vissen gezien
- Ik heb een schildpad gezien!

Paradise Bar, which turned out to be our favourite place in town. Don’t miss a sundowner at this chill joint up the hill, overlooking the sea and island.
Pasar Kuliner near the waterfront serves fresh seafood, a few very good Italian restaurants like La Cucina and Made In Italy. Also worthwhile are Happy Banana and Green Cherry, Senja Eatery and numerous smaller both international and local eateries.

Like in Ende also a lot of choice in Ruteng allover the town centre. Chacha is a nice place, Spring Hill Resto is very good and La Cucina the sister resto of the one in Labuan Bajo. Dapur Koki Kembar has an extensive menu. There are also a lot of babi resto's where pigmeat is served.

The trail is not easy but good hickers should not have any problem to climb it in 3 hours. However you will need a guide or a local to show you the path and to bring you at the starting point from your accomodation. You can hire a guide from the tourism office (most expensive option) or hire someone familiar with the area (ask at your hotel or in the streets). The best is to hire someone who lives around the Inerie and can bring you to the villages and hot springs after the trek but you may need to speak a bit of Bahasa Indonesia.
