Then lots and lots of rain - went to Abi and Dans, stunning view - home cooked dinner
Walked to lovers leap on the morning.
Tour with Guy from home stay to tea plantation - drink the tea with jaggery?? A honey block bite then drink the tea (made from sap)
2 waterfalls (will find name) one was lots of steps up the other was at a lush hotel
Then went to blue field tea factory but just had a cup of tea rather than another tour
Posted a post card at the post office
Had 500LKR kottu from local spot, massive portions super nice
Tuk Tuk to centre, walked around golf course and had a pint at 19th hole pub then grabbed Samosa and rotting and chilled at home

Ella, Sri Lanka
1. Nuwara Eliya to Ella train
Super scenic but rained, 2 hour delay for the train
Starting walking to falls but too long
Arrived in Ella then went to Clay Pot for diner, delish curry in banana leaf but more expensive (£15 for whole dins) 9/10
2. Tea on balcony in the hammock, delish breakfast dhal, roti, sambal and banana roti with smoothie
Hiked little Adam peak, hot and steep, stunning views, Abi and Dan did baby announcement. Then walked to nine arch bridge, puppies! iced coffee and mango smoothie. Watched the train, Tim had Charly in Carrier, making hm laugh. Ate at cheap plde for lunch v good. Went played pool and had beers, Charlie a little grumpy. Had dins on our own at cafe Ella - lots of different veg curries with chicken curry very good 8/10. Charly told me she was pregnant.
3. Van to Lipton seat, carried Charlie the whole way (6km) incline. View like the shire, so pretty. Watching Tuk Tuks. Great samosas and chili jam at the top. Some kind of sweetcorn thing to which was ok and also date pancakes. Got back to Ella, walked around then went for early dinner at Matey Hut (10/10). Chicken curry with veg curries, and lion beer. Charlie drinking all the rest of the beers on my lap. Last day with Dan and Abi.
4. Chilled day. Woke up late, had an iced coffee in town, got noodles for lunch from the shop (spicy af) and fruit and chilled and ate on the balcony. Cooking class, made so many yummy things, lots and lots of rain. Then went for a beer and watched some live music.
5. Walked to Ella’s Rock, cooler day. Rosie 1 - Leech 0. Got another iced coffee (bad). Had a roti burger for lunch wasn’t great. Had a glass of red wine at the place next to our accomodation, best Bombay mix Then had early dinner and Matey Hut - crispy chicken and chicken curry 10/10.
6. Woke up at 2am for Yala. Saw a porcupine when walking to location. All abit chaotic for the safari. Saw elephants, water buffalo and deer.

Tangalle, Sri Lanka
After Yala got to Tangalle for around 12pm, went to our accomdation. Overly friendly hosts. Nice tea and chocolate cake. Very nice room but bathroom separate. Walked to beach but all very local so couldn’t/didn’t wan to go into sea. Got Tuk Tuk to Silent beach. Beautiful beach, very very strong waves. Had a beer ans a coconut. Went to secret beach - hidden pearl resteraunt and Tim has fish curry and I had seafood roti SO GOOD.
2. Best breakfast in Sri Lanka (so far). Milk rice and an onion sambal then a sweet sauce on coconut roti. Got the local bus to hiritekiya

Hiriketiya Beach, Sri Lanka

Blue beach island
1. Got to here via local bus (chaotic, got called over by the police). Great mango juice as welcome drink. Walked to the beach, got an iced coffee. Walked to dickwella beach sunbathed and got into water a little bit. Walked back, Tim surged and I read. Had bugs and fries as a quick snack. Then the best kottu at garlic cafe.
2. Sunrise run, went to blue beach island (couldn’t get over due to slipway). Got a match latte at loco. Had breakfast, then walked to beach, overcast today so chilled at beach and read, Tim surfed. Got lunch at the roti hut - Naan roti and dhal only 400LKR each. Home and chilled for abit then went and got ice cream (sea salt and caramel). Mango mojito (strong af) and beer at resteraunt at the beach. Took beers to Dickwella to watch sunset but no sunset. Ate dinner opposite ours, HUGE curry was ok (6/10) Tim’s kottu very good).
3. Got iced coffee from beach shack. Walked to turtle point, very choppy but saw a turtle then the turtle came closer to shore and they fed it. Roughly 1 1/2 hour there and back. Sunbathed at dickwella with a coconut but weather got bad. Terrible terrible lunch at mamma Cherie beachfront. Got home rain STARTED coming down and didn’t stop, went to garlic cafe for buffet curry, was ok 6.5/10, but the beans were a10/10 and the popdoms.
4. Got up massive spider on our balcony table, belongs to it now. Bakery bread Victoria sponge for brekky. 9:30-11:30 at the beach, sunbathed swam a lot chiller waves todays. Then iced coffee form same hut (with vanilla this time much better). Hired a scooter, drove to Dondra lighthouse, stunning views and had great lunch at the bay (haumana cove). Coconut roti and dhal (400LKR) but also had beer. Had swing, also could walk down to sea from the restraint. Then drove to the next beach along, swam and sunbathed then dark clouds came and thunder. Drove back through storm and got wet. Then went to bacuzzi for a PROSECCO and a cocktail and gave free Italian bits, 10/10. Went home showered then walked to the beach and had beer at the beach for sunset. Then went to dots for a couple of cocktails very nice and vibes place but LOADS of flying ants. Went back to health kitchen opposite our place for dins for kitty! Spicy spicy 9/10.

Mirissa, Sri Lanka

Turtle beach
1. Woke up early and went o beach, Tim surfers and I swam at 6:30am. Back to ours for breakfast. Chaotic bus ride to Mirissa, SO BUSY ANS FAST!! Arrived to Mirissa very hot. Walked along the beach to parrot island then to turtle beach and saw turtles but very choppy ( might go early another day). Came back to place to shower but shower was only running hot so had to wait to be fixed. Then met Ash and Harriet for some cocktails - they were so nice and also paid for our cocktails! We then went for another cocktail before going for some food, I started to feel unwell. Also got an anklet and immediately lost it so had to her another one… whale watching tomorrow!
2. 5am wake up for whale watching. On the boat and moving by 6:30. Given coffee asap and fruit plate. See bottlenkse dolphins within the first 20 mins swimming past our boats lots (3 of them). Then saw turtles mating. Saw spinner dolphins hundreds of them. Had fried gags with chicken sausages and saw a Bryde whale. They hadn’t seen whales in awhile so good to see them. Raja and the whale was the company, do things ethically, no sonar. Guy on the boat had a drone and was tracking and taking pics of the whale. Got back and had a nap neither of us feeling great. Got back out and had an ice cream and crisps. Walked to secret beach (4 super cute pups) , cute spot saw a turtle bobbing its head and mostly read. Then walked back to the main beach and went to LAVA for dins. I had tuna steak and Tim has crab curry (his crab 10/10, tuna 6/10 but with the curry sauce 9/10).

Weligama, Sri Lanka
1. Breakfast at poppies was just pancakes was good but not much. Bus to Weligama. Walked along Weligama beach, really big breach and more chilled. SO many surf places. Did the whole walk along then back to the beach and Tim surfer and I sunbathed (we don’t think the suncream works 😭). Walked back towards our and had lunch at a place behind us. The cheapest curry so far and it was 10/10. Chicken curry for 800 and veg for 700. Then came to Kurumba bay - sat in cabana, had amazing iced tea and smoothie. Then chiller and went to place for dins, gave us free hoppers and had chicken kittu (8/10) gave us all the spice.
2. Went to Anghama beach with a scooter and for a bougie brunch at Cactus - lankan benny and a bagel and caramel iced latte - 10/10, amazing views. Went to next beach and chilled and walked along the beach and then sat and chilled on sunbed. Choppy waves in the afternoon - loads of turtles at the beach riding the waves and popping their heads up (where the secret rock pool is but couldn’t swim as so choppy) Also loads of fishermen on the stilts fishing. Started to rain so had a beer on that beach. Scootered home and GOT SOAKED. Warmed up at home, then Tim braved the rain to get a bottle of Prosecco and drop off the bike. Whilst gone Polish Guy started chatting to me (Simon). Me and Tim drank Prosecco (was 8/10) spoke to the Polish Guys and the Kiwi (all so young early 20s). We then went and ate at same resteraunt as before chicken curry was great again. (10/10) they had to Tuk Tuk out to get beers. Tim then went fishing with those boys and some local Sri Lankans.

1. Breakfast in Weligama before leaving went to the place next to the one we normally go to - took FOREVER for breakfast but was pretty good, roti was great and Tim got pittu which was also great. (8/10). Got the bus to Galle, managed to get a seat thank god. A lot busier in Galle. Walked to accomodation then chilled for abit and walked to Galle Fort; so different from rest of Sri Lanka. Walked around abit and got an ice cream from Isle of Gelato, spenny but good. Rain then STARTED, stopped on a cute cafe for a iced tea and they had a gcute spaniel. Then walked around for food came to a fast food place which was good, 2 curries for 1400 for both. Then walked home via a big department store got some little chocs (3/10). Then went home and chilled.
2. Breakfast from the accomodation, so much food but very good no dhal though 😭. Found a “free” walking tour from tik tok, where you pay then what you want. Met at the clock tower, guy war really interesting and fun walked us around for half hour told us; Some elephants had got drifted out 4km so they had to be brought back by ropes, only 20 years this has all been built up before it was a coast town, houses used to cost £2000 and now 2 million in the fort etc. then went for a beer and played cards and got a ring from a really cute jewlery man. Then to the Maratime museum only £1 to get in! Then we went to chocolate cheesecake and a cookie then it started chucking it down so went to the tap house and had a jug of beer and watched the rain and played cards. Monkeys jumping over the fort. Then walked to Lucky Fort and had the 10 curries - were to try all but not the best 6.5/10. Abis having a girl!!! Then got a Tuk Tuk back (tuk tuk mafia in the fort). Homestay brought us tea ans biscuits.
3. Got up early and walked all the way to turtle beach (was 20km in the end). Had to pay to get in and everyone was stroking them etc when they shouldn’t be. Cool to see up close but didn’t love the experience. Then walked back to Unawatuna beach and got. Juice and ate our chicken rotisserie that we had picked up earlier. Got an iced tea for the walk back. Stopped and every supermarket on way back. Really long walk. Got pineapple form the market and went back to our home stay. Decided to just eat opposite called eat more - got chicken kottu was good 8/10, gave us gravy! Then early night. Got some choc fingers from shop downstairs were okay (7/10).

Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka
1. Woke up to lots of rain. Had breakfast at homestay which was amazing. The coconut pancakes are great and they made dhal on our request. They also had a roti with the pancake filling which was insane. We took some away in our sandwich bags. Decide to get a Tuk Tuk to Hikkaduwa as it was raining. Got to Hikkaduwa weather was crazy! Raining and windy has to walk to cash point. Went to wine store and got prosecco and tiger beers. Chilled at our place and ate our leftover breakfast and drank and planned Phillipines. Went out to dinner opposite had crab curry and Tim had fish curry - 7/10. Watched stranger things ep 1.
2. Woke up and ran, wind was INSANE! Came back and went o the super alert got yog, cornflakes and fresh fruit for brekky. Then walked to tsunamis museum, the wind is crazy and there is a cyclone. Tsunami museum was really interesting and also sad, lot of pics of dead bodies was awful. They had part of the train that was hit. Also big monument form the Japanese of a Buddha, the Buddha shoulders are where the waves can up to. Then saw loads of armed police not sure what was going on. Went lad t the title sanctuary and went in, lots of turtles who will be related soon and held a baby. Walked back and went for a iced coffee and played some card and salty beer (7/10). Tim had to go and get roti because I was starving. 5/10 roti. Chilled then went ocean drop and had chicken curry with roti and Tim had kottu (7/10).
3. Woke up (terrible sleep so itchy). Got earplugs back from other place. Walked to get more yoghurt and Banda for brekky and got a coconut iced coffee from the coffe cube next door (6.5/10). Then walked to Dondra cloffs, over dat today quite sunny!!stopped for an iced tea at a beachside cafe and there was cute kitten. l got a cheap rout (potato, cheese and garlic was good (8/10) times for a jaffle (toasted sandwich) which was awful (2/10). Got a strawberry and lemon fancy ice cream from the shop (10/10) - they look like the fruit, Came back and then went down to the beach with a beer and watched the sunset, was gorgeous. Went to Skandia resteraunt. Tim had chicken masala and naan roti, the masala was delish, chicken abit gritty and I had chicken fried noodles (8/10). Came home and chilled. Covered in calamine lotion to help with the itch!!
4. Woke up and went for a run (super hot!). Just over 5.5km had to stop abit so dogs didn’t bite us. Then went to the beach and sunbathed a little bit and swam (water abit dirty due to cyclone). Went back to the house and had noodles for lunch and tiger beer and Masala peanuts (10/10). Then had a snooze and cuddle and got dressed. Played some cards and drank a bottle of of Prosecco at accomodation. Got another 2 tigers from bottle shop and went to watch the survey but no sunset really. Went to coco loco for a beer on the beach and then went to another places for dinner. I had tiger and garlic butter chill prawns with chips and salad (9/10) times had curry and red wine which was about 7/10).
5. Got up and chilled ad checked out. Went ad had breakfast out (last Sri Lanka brekky dhal) 8/10. Then went and had a coffee and then went to Chill place for late lunch, both had cheese chicken kottu 9/10 but more expressive than we thought. Went back to accomodation and chilled until taxi came to take us to the airport. Got a baguette and dominos at the airport (domino was shit). All smooth sailing with the flights!!!
