**Afternoon:** Arrive in Christchurch at 5:20 pm after flight from Melbourne. Upon arrival, collect your luggage and get transportation to your accommodation. Take time to freshen up and grab dinner at a local café or restaurant near where you're staying.
**Evening:** Enjoy a quiet evening to recover from your flight. Explore the immediate surroundings of your accommodation if you're not too tired, or simply relax and prepare for your motorhome adventure beginning tomorrow.

# Lake Tekapo Day Plan
**Day 1 - Arrival and Scenic Exploration**
**Morning:** Breakfast and spend a few hours exploring Christchurch city.
Pick up your motorhome in Christchurch Airport at 11:00 am, begin your drive south toward Lake Tekapo. The journey takes approximately three and a half hours. Stop for lunch en route and enjoy the changing landscapes as you approach the Canterbury region. Arrive at Lake Tekapo in early afternoon and settle into your accommodation.
**Afternoon:** Arrive at the shimmering turquoise shores of Lake Tekapo, framed by the snow-dusted Mackenzie Basin. Visit the iconic Church of the Good Shepherd, a charming historic stone church with incredible photo opportunities. Take a leisurely walk around the stunning turquoise waters of Lake Tekapo. Exploring the lakeside walking tracks and enjoy the dramatic Southern Alps views. Stop at the visitor center to gather information about local attractions and activities.
**Evening:** Soak in the Tekapo Springs, and surrender to some of the world's most dazzling starlit skies. Relax at your motorhome or accommodation and prepare a simple dinner. If skies are clear, venture out for stargazing as Lake Tekapo is renowned for its dark skies and exceptional stargazing opportunities. Enjoy the peaceful alpine atmosphere and get an early night.

# Day 1 - Alpine Adventures in Twizel
**Morning:** Start your day early at the Hooker Valley Track trailhead, located about 45 minutes from Twizel. This stunning 10-kilometer return walk takes you through native beech forest and alpine meadows, offering breathtaking views of Mount Cook and surrounding peaks. The trail is well-maintained and suitable for most fitness levels, with spectacular scenery rewarding your effort at every turn.
**Afternoon:** After completing the hike, grab lunch at a local café in Twizel to refuel. Spend the afternoon exploring the town's visitor center to learn about the region's hydro heritage and local history. Consider a leisurely walk around the beautiful man-made lakes that surround Twizel, enjoying the peaceful alpine setting.
