day 1: hakone loop
- bus from hakone to motohakone-ko
- tea/snacks at amazake-chaya tea house (mochi and amesake drink)
- walk along old cedar avenue via old tokadio trail to reach motohakone-ko port
- hakone shrine and red torri gate
- tour hakone checkpoint
- walk on mishima skywalk (suspension bridge)
- board hakone sightseeing cruise to togendai
- hakone ropeway (volcano) - try black egg at owakundani station
- ropeway to sounzan and cable car to gora
- gora has some museums/cultural things (could stop here to visit something?)
- potentially onsen? early dinner?
day 2:
- walk (to waterfall only 20 mins or part of the trail depending on p’s back)
- mount kintoki hike / tokaido trail / chisuji waterfall trail
- onsen visit
- kayak round the lake?
- travel to kyoto
eve in kyoto
food places:
- yubadon naokichi (tofu set)
- hatsuhana soba honten for best soba noodles (long queues)
- kinosuke (grilled fish)
- cafe timuny (cheesecake)

- hakone free pass (2 day = £40)
- shops/dinner places shut early, like 8pm
