The best way to handle this is to use the ParkL app. ParkL has cooperation with several parking garages around the city. You can see their location, rates, and places available on the app. The app also lets you pay for parking in the garages, so you don't need to deal with machines, cash, etc. You can also pay for street parking through the app. It uses your phone's GPS to determine which parking district you're in, so you won't make mistakes there, and it has "in day auto-renewal" and "overnight auto-renewal" options to automatically renew your parking after three hours and overnight.
Aside from street parking and the ParkL partner garages, malls can also be good places for parking. Corvin Plaza has plenty of parking in its garages at 400 huf per hour. I don't use it, but Westend mall has inexpensive (2500 huf per day) outdoor parking. It's right next to Nyugati station, so it's centrally located in Pest and close to good transit links if you're into public transit. Kobanya Kispest train station / Koki mall has 500 huf per day parking, and, while not so centrally located, has good transport connections.
