direct train to lecco from milan, stay two nights. one explore the town + lake on first day, second day hike monte resegone. challenging but cool hike i reckon.

Route via Piani d'Erna (using the cable car)
Bus to the cable car: Take bus #5 from the center of Lecco to the terminus at Piani d'Erna. This is the starting point for the cable car.
Cable car: Ride the cable car up to Piani d'Erna.
Hike to the summit: From Piani d'Erna, follow the trail to the summit of Punta Cermenati, the highest peak.
Duration: This hike can take about 7 hours total, including a lunch stop, if you hike both up and down.
Pros: This is a good option if you want to shorten the amount of time hiking, particularly on the descent.

train to varenna next day from Lecco. direct very easy. day exploring that side of lake. Then we do part of the sentiero del viandante back to Lierna (if long we can train back) or to Bellano (less far + further up lake maybe worth doing).

then, we can spend last day relaxing, go around somewhere else to lake to see another town and chill.
