Thursday, 6 November — Arrival & Shinjuku Exploration
land at Narita Airport at 3:35 PM (CX520). After immigration and baggage claim, take the Narita Express (N’EX) at ~4:40 PM, which will bring us directly to Shinjuku Station in about 90 minutes. From there, either walk or take the Marunouchi Line one stop to Shinjuku Sanchome Station, then walk about 200m to your apartment at Kabukichō 601 (ヤスオビル). After settling in, enjoy an evening stroll around Kabukichō — stop by the Godzilla Head, wander Omoide Yokocho for a glimpse of post-war-era alleyways, and end with dinner around 8:00 PM at either Gyukatsu Motomura or Bistro Fukumimi, both of which were recommended by Sid. If we have energy, quick peek into Golden Gai’s tiny bars afterwards before turning in.
Friday, 7 November — Gotokuji (Cat Temple) + Shinjuku + Bar Hopping Tour
Train to Gotokuji Temple, the origin of the maneki-neko (beckoning cat). Depart walk to Shinjuku-Sanchome Station (8mins). 7:30 AM train arriving by 8:00 AM, and enjoy strolling among the sea of lucky cat statues until around 9:30 AM. Return to Shinjuku when ready and enjoy a casual lunch locally — must try Cois Espresso Club for coffee and Brûlée cheesecake. Spend the afternoon browsing Shinjuku including Don Quijote before heading back to hotel to drop off shopping and freshen up ready by 5:20 PM, walk 10 minutes to the meeting point for our Shinjuku Bar Hopping Tour (BOOKED), which runs from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. After the tour, we can continue the night with a drink in Golden Gai, Omoide Yokocho or around Kabukichō.
Saturday, 8 November — Asakusa Free Walking Tour + Hoppy Street + Samurai Time Restaurant Show.
Leave the apartment around 9:45 AM and take the Ginza Line to Asakusa (~35 min). Then spend time exploring Senso-ji Temple and Hoppy Street area, street food and drinks. Afterward, head via train to the Samurai Restaurant Time show (TO BOOK for 4PM) for a fun dinner and live performance. Return (7 mins walking distance) to the apartment after show walk in local area bars/shops before heading back - early start tomorrow.
Sunday, 9 November — Flea Market, Harajuku, Shibuya Sky, Samurai Show + Lights and Darkness free walking tour (adults only).
Begin the day with an early visit to the Hanazono Shrine Flea Market, just a short walk from our apartment, between 7:00 and 8:30AM. Afterward, catch the train to Meiji-Jingumae Station (~15 min) and arrive at Meiji Jingu Shrine by 8:45AM. After exploring the grounds, wander to Takeshita Street in Harajuku (9:40–10:40 AM) before heading to Ore-ryu Gyoza Rou (Tas recommendation) for lunch around 11:00 AM. Next leisurely walk 20 minutes via Cat street to Shibuya — visit Hachikō, walk the Scramble Crossing, and do some shopping. Enter Shibuya Sky at 03:25pm (TO BOOK in October for couches) for a gorgeous sunset view. Head by train to meet Shinjuku Lights and Darkness free walking tour (BOOKED). If there is time before meeting the tour, head up the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building for city light free view. Close to meet location at 6:45pm for 7pm tour. Monday, 10 November — teamLab Planets + Fire Ritual + Ginza + Asahi Sky Room
Leave apartment by 6:50AM to head toward Toyosu and line up by 8:15am to visit teamLab Planets entry time at 8:30 AM (BOOKED). Afterward, take the train to Monzen-Nakachō (~15 min) Attend the Fukagawa Fudō-dō Fire Ritual at 11am then lunch and stroll before heading to Ginza for some shopping and street food at fish markets between 2:30 PM and 4:30PM. Head via train to Asahi Sky Room at around 5:00pm for panoramic views and beer with Skytree view. Train back to Shinjuku (~35 min) when ready. Early night.
