Best Route (Recommended): Train + Ferry
🚡 Mt Misen Ropeway (Cable Car) – Price & Notes
• Adult (12 yrs+): ~¥2,000 round-trip or ~¥1,100 one-way.
Tip: You can also buy a combined ferry + ropeway ticket at the Miyajima-guchi ferry terminal that bundles ferry crossings with the ropeway for savings (around ¥2,100 adult return).
Overview: Easy, frequent services + quick crossing.
1) Walk to Hiroshima Station
From Candeo Hotel Hiroshima Hatchobori, it’s about a 10–15 minute walk to Hiroshima Station.
2) Train: JR Sanyo Line → Miyajimaguchi Station
• Board a JR San-yo Line (local or rapid) toward Miyajimaguchi.
• Journey time: ~25–30 min.
• If you have a Japan Rail Pass (JR Pass), the train is covered.
3) Walk to the Ferry Terminal
• From Miyajimaguchi Station it’s ~3–6 min walk to the ferry docks.
4) Ferry: Miyajima-guchi → Miyajima Island
Two companies run this short crossing:
• JR Miyajima Ferry
• Matsudai Kisen
Both take ~10 min and depart about every 10 min.
• Fare: ~¥180–¥200 one-way per adult; children are cheaper.
• If using a JR Pass, the JR Ferry is free.
👍 Total travel time: ~45–60 min from hotel to Miyajima Island.
⸻
⛴ Alternative: Direct Ferry from Central Hiroshima
If you want a more scenic route with fewer transfers:
→ Aqua Net / Hiroshima World Heritage Ferry
• Departs from Peace Memorial Park (Motoyasu Pier) in central Hiroshima.
• Direct to Miyajima in about 45 min.
• Costs ~¥2,200 one-way.
This avoids a train + short ferry, but is slower and more expensive than the train-plus-Miyajimaguchi ferry option.

🧭 Tips for a Smooth Day Trip
🕐 Timing
• Ferries between Miyajimaguchi and Miyajima run very frequently; no need to book ahead.
• Aim to leave early morning to give you plenty of time on the island.
🎟 Passes & Tickets
• If you’re using a JR Pass, the train and the JR ferry are included.
• Even without passes, total cost per person for train+ferry is modest (~¥600–¥800 each way).
👣 On Miyajima
• Once there, most attractions (Itsukushima Shrine, the famous torii, shops, Mt Misen cable car) are all walkable from the ferry dock.
