Ubud is crazy busy and not known so much for parties, but there's adventure to be had, lots of waterfalls, cleansing ceremonies, atv, rafting... Cretya/alas harem are a must (day club and amazing rice fields), kabana by k club on Fri or sat nights for djs, the jungle club (day to night) and omma (day with waterfall view). can do a day trip (starts at 2 or 3AM in the morning though) from Ubud to Lovina if he wants to swim with the dolphins. Not much else to do there, but worth a day trip (organised tour) for the dolphins!

Fast boat to nusa oenida
On Gili T, it's all push bikes, so he should hire one for his time there and head around to sunset beach. There's some cool hostels over that side too, Monkey something... haha. Rabbit Jump have pool parties, there are pub crawls a few nights a week on Gili T so he'll meet people. I stayed at the Irish Bar, it's a nice place to stay, but close to the action. But maybe mix it up, start at monkey hostel, meet some people and go from there
