Um sich anzuklimatisieren: immer wieder kleine Pausen. Wilcacocha Trail Es sind nur ca. 500 Höhenmeter, die man dort macht, aber „Wenn ihr dort ohne Probleme hochkommt, dann könnt ihr euch an die richtigen Trekks hier wagen!“ wurde uns von unserem Hostelbesitzer geraten.
Laguna 69 ist eine Tageswanderung zu der Lagune 69, einem knall-türkisen Gletschersee, auf 4.600 Metern und Santa Cruz ist eine mehrtägige auf und ab Wanderung durch die Berge mit Zelten, Trägern, Eseln und allem Pipapo beinhaltet.

Laguna Hualcacocha
The drive from Huaraz to the trailhead for Laguna Hualcacocha (via Carhuaz → Shilla → Ulta Valley) takes approximately 45–60 minutes, depending on road conditions.
• Huaraz → Carhuaz (≈34 km): about 45 minutes by car or colectivo 
• Carhuaz → Ulta Valley trailhead: an additional 15–20 minutes along the Carhuaz–Chacas road through Shilla, to the park checkpoint and river crossing
So in total, you’re looking at ~1 hour of driving to reach the start of the hike. Once you’re there, it’s a ~3-hour zig-zag ascent (≈5 km) to the lake at 4,355 m, then the same back down .
Then it’s around 3 hours hiking up, enjoy the lake, and 3 hours back down—a full but rewarding day trip. Let me know if you’d like info on transport options, guides, or trail conditions!
