Reverse Route Tour of Fenghuang Ancient Town 丨 These 6 Photo Spots Are Absolutely Stunning 📸
Hello everyone! I'm Huifang.🤩
Fenghuang Ancient Town is located in southwestern Xiangxi, Hunan Province. Composed of 28 ethnic groups including Hmong, Han, and Tujia, it’s a typical ethnic minority settlement. Nestled at the southern foot of the Wuling Mountains and eastern side of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, it gets its name from the green mountain behind it that resembles a phoenix about to spread its wings and fly.
After visiting Fenghuang 6 times, I finally unlocked this off-the-beaten-path itinerary!
👉 The main tourist area lies along both banks of the Tuo River.
From upstream to downstream, the order is:
✅ Nanhua Bridge - Xue Bridge - Tiaoyan (Stepping Stones) - Hongqiao Bridge - Wanming Pagoda - Feng Bridge - Wu Bridge - Yue Bridge - Yun Bridge
📸 Photo Spot Sharing
Most tourists gather between Xue Bridge and Wanming Pagoda.
This time, I set off early in the morning to tour in reverse, starting from the downstream:
1️⃣ Yue Bridge
2️⃣ Wanming Pagoda
3️⃣ Stilted Houses
4️⃣ Tiaoyan (Stepping Stones)
5️⃣ City Wall (visible right after entering through the North Gate)
6️⃣ Changtangan (30-minute drive from the town, full of ancient charm - well worth a visit!)

Catch a DiDi to Panda Reserve. FYI- enter and exit from the new West gate (less walking). There is a bus waiting at West gate that will take you back to Chunxi Road (IFC building). There re plenty of shops around. OR if shopping is not your thing you can walk ( or catch a metro) to Tianfu Square and then onto People’s Park for some people watching. All is in close proximity to each other! Have fun!
you can go to jinli street, kuanzhai alley, chunxi road, panda reserve and chengdu museum
Must-Visit Ancient Towns and Streets in Chengdu
You can start with South Gate. I started with West and there were so many people there. I walked to South Gate and we were almost alone there. There were so many pandas there and it was almost empty. I suppose that South Gate is always less crowded.
1.Kuanzhai Alley; is one of Chengdu’s most popular attractions, located in the city area, offering a mix of historical ambiance and contemporary flair. Kuanzhai Alley is preserves the architectural style of old Chengdu, with traditional courtyards, wooden facades, and brick walls, the alleys are comprises three parallel alleys: Kuan (Wide) Alley, Zhai (Narrow) Alley, and Jing (Well) Alley.
2.Jinli Ancient Street; Located next to Wuhao shrine, Jinlie Ancient Street is a great place to explore traditional Sichuan culture, try local snacks, and shop for souvenirs. Visitors can relax with a cup of tea and enjoy classic Sichuan-style entertainment, including Sichuan opera, puppet shows, and face-changing performances.
3.Huilong Ancient Town; this ancient town retains its traditional Sichuan architecture, with cobblestone streets, old wooden buildings, and preserved courtyard houses. It feels like stepping back in time, offering a glimpse of local life before Chengdu's rapid modernization. I love this ancient town, is a lesser-known but charming destination that offers a more serene and authentic experience of Sichuan's rural culture and historical ambiance. Its accessible by metro and continues with local bus or Didi taxi.
Bipenggou Just 3 hours from Chengdu, isn’t just about stunning snow views — though the frozen forests are straight out of a fairytale!
It’s also packed with winter fun: snowmobiles, glacier rafting, skiing… perfect for a family day out!
We stayed in Chengdu Zhujian Cuiwei Hotel, it’s a beautiful hotel, the rooms are amazing! Price was good!
