Plan an early start: get to Ogizawa from Shinano-Omachi area (there are local connections) and buy your day ticket. You can do Ogizawa ⇔ Murodo or Ogizawa ⇔ Daikanbo / Kurobe Dam depending on operations that day. Official Alpine Route guidance warns about same-day purchase rules in late season.
Sample timing idea: Depart Nagano early → Shinano-Omachi / Ogizawa area in morning → buy Alpine Route ticket at Ogizawa → ride up to Murodo and enjoy the snow plateau → return to Nagano by late afternoon/evening (Alpine operation dependent).

Morning: Nagano Station → Yudanaka (Nagano Dentetsu Limited Express) — ~38 minutes. From Yudanaka, take the local bus (Nagaden / Uebayashi line) ~15 minutes to the Snow Monkey Park drop point then walk (~35 min) to the park area. Allow half a day (2–4 hours) for monkeys + walking. Official access guidance from the park shows Nagano→Yudanaka + bus/walk route.
Afternoon/early evening: Return to Nagano — explore Zenko-ji Temple or hop into an onsen in Yudanaka / Shibu Onsen if you want.
