Bangkok, Thailand
After arriving at BKK airport, you will go through immigration, collect your luggage. On the ground floor of the airport (Level B), there are currency exchange offices with the best rates β follow the signs for the Express Line to the train station. Once youβre on Level B, walk towards the trains β there will be a downward path on the right, but instead of going through the train gates, head slightly to the left where youβll find many exchange booths. Compare rates and exchange your money at the best one (theyβll ask for your passport). You can exchange a larger amount there.
You can also buy a SIM card with an internet plan for your travel period β the operator AIS offers a two-week plan for around 600β700 THB. It may be slightly more expensive at the airport, but the staff there know how to insert the SIM into your phone, activate it, and set up the internet plan. They will ask for your passport when buying a SIM β this is normal, as each SIM must be registered by law.
After exchanging your money, follow the TAXI signs and go to the taxi area (one floor above). When you get outside, the taxi system is simple β take a numbered ticket and head to your designated taxi number.
Once youβre in the taxi, if the driver suggests not using the meter, do not agree β insist that they use it. Calm the grumbling driver by assuring them youβll leave a tip :) Have the hotel address and phone number saved on your phone or printed out. The driver might ask whether to take toll roads or not β toll roads are usually faster, but the passenger pays (around 100β150 THB).
