TO DO:
- Rent a bike at one of the many rental companies on the streets
- Via the main beach road (such a stunning one!), bike to Hotel Las Nubes and
park your bike here. From this point, you can walk to the sea and afterwards
head to the sandbanks a bit further in the water. They’ll lead you to an
abandoned, white beach with the bluest water you’ve ever seen. Nice extra: the
pelicans along the route who are not afraid of tourists at all.

- Punta mosquito -> wandelen over zandbanken en als het de tijd is van de
flamingo’s, kan je die daar zijn. Super helder water!
- Punta coco -> uitzicht op van de zonsondergang te genieten. (Neem wat snacks
mee ;) )

- Head to the beach club of hotel Casasandra for a lunch in Mojito, their cosy
and delicious restaurant.

VALLADOLID:
Valladolid is a very cute, local, colorful & colonial city in Yucatán. For me,
it was everything I hoped a small Mexican city would be. Take the afternoon to
visit:
- the cathedral & the neighboring square
- walk through the colourful streets. Most famous one: Calzada de Los Frailes
- taste the delicious streetfood
Lunch:
Many options, but the best & most famous one is the stall on the corner of the
street left of Calzada de Los Frailes, selling fresh sandwiches with
chicken-pineapple and sauce. YUM!
Dinner:
- 24/11 om 20u: casa conato cultural 1910 (a local dinner in the inside garden
of Conato, one of the nicest restaurants in)
town.

CHICHEN ITZA & CENOTE IK KIL:
About 40 minutes from Valladolid, you can visit one of our world’s ancient
wonders: Maya temple Chichén Itza. Very impressive! Go and visit it early in the
morning and don’t save on a guide, it’s so worth it to hear the full story of
the place. You can find the official guides at the entrance. It opens at 8, I
recommend you to arrive around 7.30-7.45 to avoid too many tourists.
Taxi’s are quite expensive here, so if you want to go for just €2 per person,
take the so-called ‘collectivo’ from the center of Valladolid to Chichen Itza.
It’s a shared bus
that leaves 3 houses further from the ADO station.
Take the collectivo again to Cenote Ik Kil - you can find the bus stop at the
parking lot of Chichen Itza.
Time for a cenote now torefresh a bit. On the way back to Valladolid, you can
stop at the famous cenote Ik Kil. It is touristy, however very impressive.
You’ll share your swim with
other tourists, but will most probably won’t be able to see anything like this
in the rest of the world.

De populairste activiteit in Bacalar is zeilen omdat je zo in alle rust het
bijzondere meer kan verkennen. Dit is een hele relaxte manier om de mooiste
plekjes van het meer te bezoeken en de 7 verschillende tinten blauw water te
bekijken. Onderweg krijg je lekker vers fruit terwijl je geniet van het uitzicht
en af en toe stopt om te zwemmen of te snorkelen. De tour duurt ongeveer 3 uur
en de gids wist ons een boel te vertellen over Bacalar en de geschiedenis van de
regio wat deze tour extra leuk maakte. Absolute aanrader dus voor een relaxte
middag in Bacalar! Je kan de zeiltocht boeken maar mocht je liever iets
goedkoper Laguna Bacalar willen verkennen dan is deze boottour een goed
alternatief.
KAJAKKEN OF SUPPEN OVER LAGUNA BACALAR
Zin in iets actiefs? Dan kan je Laguna Bacalar ook verkennen met een kajak.
Bezoek zeker Bird Island, Cenote Negro en El Canal de Los Piratas. Hier ben je
goed een halve dag zoet mee. Natuurlijk kan je ook een kortere tocht maken als
je geen zin hebt om zo lang te kajakken. Met een zeil- of boottocht zie je
waarschijnlijk meer maar dit is een mooi alternatief om op eigen houtje te gaan.
Nog een laatste manier om het meer te verkennen is met de stand up paddle tour.
Je gaat tijdens zonsopkomst het meer op, wanneer het nog heerlijk rustig is en
zo heb je deze magische plek helemaal voor jezelf tijdens the golden hour.
Liever op eigen houtje suppen? Dan kan je ook een SUP board huren.
CHILLEN BIJ LAS COCALITOS
Wil je een paar uurtjes chillen aan het water? Dan is Las Cocalitos de ideale
plek hiervoor in Bacalar. Het water is er super mooi doordat het hier een heel
stuk erg ondiep is en er staan schommels en hangmatten in het water. Gooi je
handdoek neer op het gras, bestel wat taco’s en drankjes en geniet van de
Mexicaanse zon. Klinkt niet gek toch? Ga lekker vroeg om de drukte voor te zijn.
LAGUNA BONANZO
Tegenwoordig is het in de middag vaak behoorlijk druk bij Las Cocalitos en
daarom tippen we hier nog even Laguna Bonanzo. Hoewel je hier minder ruimte hebt
om te liggen, is het er vaak wel wat rustiger. Ook leuk is dat je hier een kajak
kan huren en daarmee in nog geen minuut bij Los Rapidos bent. Zo kan je beide
plekken voor de prijs van één bekijken. Ook hier geldt dat je het beste lekker
vroeg kan gaan om een fijne plek te bemachtigen.

Tulum, Mexico
To do:
- Ga naar het strand om te chillen en zoek een agentschap dat aan snorkelen doet
met manta’s en schildpadden. Probeer op voorhand uit te zoeken waar er algen
liggen en waar niet. (🌱 stinken ;) )
- In Tulum worden uitstappen geregeld naar si’an ka’an een natuurreservaat
tussen Bacalar en Tulum wat ook erg de moeite is. Wel niet goedkoop maar zeker
de moeite!
- In Tulum is uitgaan in strawhat leuk!
Wel beetje oppassen wanneer het donker wordt en je door de kleinere straatjes
loopt. De taxi’s gaan ook steeds te veel geld vragen, probeer op voorhand een
prijs te fixen! In Tulum zijn er giga grote supermarkten, dus kan je wat
besparen met inkopen te doen.

Lunch:
- Best food I had in Tulum by far: the delicious dishes at La Popular (the beach
restaurant of Hotel Nomade). Sitting in the colorful decor with eye for detail
in a pure way, this is the perfect spot to sit back and enjoy life.

Drinks:
- If you're staying in the hotel or not: a visit to rooftop ROOF in the Panamera
hotel is a must. You overlook the jungle here, where the sun will set right in
front of you. They serve a fine selection of cocktails, tapas and have DJ's
playing groovy tunes.
Dinner:
- 27/11 om 20u: Dinner at NU
- Enjoy dinner at the cosy jungle restaurant of NÜ. Step into the jungle to
encounter a
bohemian, open-air, enchanting candle-light restaurant serving cocktails and
freshly sourced local ingredients blended into a nice culinary experience.
