Penida Island, Indonesia
Most Bali itineraries have Nusa Penida listed as a day trip - but HEAR ME OUT.
This island is much bigger than it appears, and to fully experience the
incredible things it has to offer, you have to stay at least 2 nights. The group
I was with hired a driver for one day and tried to knock out most of the iconic
sights - Keling Keling, Diamond beach, the Thousand Islands viewpoint, Broken
Beach, and Angel’s Billabong. It was a packed day, but one of my favorite days I
had during my entire 3 weeks in Bali.

Gili Islands, Indonesia
The Gili islands are where you’re finally going to see the beaches that everyone
thinks Bali has - and the Gili islands aren’t even technically part of Bali! I
suggest you stay on Gili Trawangan if you like a little bit of a social scene,
but if you’re here on a honeymoon or for a more relaxing vacation, Gili Meno and
Gili Air are better options.

Ubud, Indonesia
Ubud felt like magic to me. In what might be an unpopular opinion, I enjoyed
Ubud far more than I did any of the beach towns I visited! There was so much to
do, and something about the city and the nature surrounded had me in a freaking
chokehold.

Canggu, Indonesia
Confession: I didn’t love Canggu - but I think it’s because I went to Uluwatu
first! a huge misconception about Bali is that it has super tropical beaches
with clear water and white sand…but this really isn’t the case. The beaches in
Canggu are black sand beaches, and the water tends to look a bit like the
Atlantic at times! Regardless, there’s so much happening in and around Canggu
that you definitely can’t miss it on your trip to Bali.

Uluwatu Beach, Indonesia
Here, the ocean is blue, the beaches are gorgeous, the waves are world class,
and the vibes are immaculate. Because of it’s cliffs, the landscape is
jaw-dropping - which also unfortunately means that the hikes down to and up from
the beaches are KILLER. Don’t let it put you off! The beaches are so worth the
hikes. There are also a good amount of beach clubs, and while the parties aren’t
~quite~ on Canggu’s level, you can still have a super fun night out.
