Stayed in Centro Rio just up from the Lapa district! First place we’ve stayed and was probably the worst area we could’ve chosen at that time! But we battled through and enjoyed every minute being vigilant/ wary when we left the hotel, we landed at 6 am straight to the hotel and dropped bags got changed in a dingy bathroom and left with no suncream on heading for lapa arches and Copacabana beach! NYE came and we had sourced tickets for the main event on the beach! During the day we visited sugar loaf mountain, great experience! The sun set and what a night with the fireworks and the buzzing atmosphere everywhere! Amazing but extremely eye opening, felt like it was the one night of the year that all the locals where out to make their yearly wage selling street food or alcoholic drinks! The next day we explored the Selaron steps and where we was to stay for the Feb stint @ carnival! Sunset on Aarodor beach absolutely stunning! The morning after was Christ the Redeemer, busiest place on earth but well worth it first wonder of the world ticked before heading up to Recife on a flight the next day all in all great first Rio experience
