?Can we do this by train instead of flight? I think potentially cheaper and apparently v scenic https://www.seat61.com/Kenya.htm#Nairobi-to-Mombassa-by-train. Train is $12 for economy class and runs daily at either 8am (6 hour stopping service) or 3pm (5hr direct service). May as well book in advance through bookaway. Can pay $36 for first class or loads for premium but I don't think it's worth it. Runs from Nairobi Terminus, which isn't in the city. There is a link train from the old station which takes you there.Do we stay in Mombasa or head straight to Diani beach?? At some point we need to walk around Mombasa old town.

Ideally want to stay at Diani Backpackers https://www.dianibackpackers.com/#Contact but awaiting a response from them. Stay 3 nights here so have 2 full days, can lounge by beach/ join other people in hostel or can consider day trip to Mombasa.

Spend morning in Mombasa if not already gone, then get 15:00-20:18 train from Mombasa to Nairobi. Then either link train to Nairobi station and an uber, or uber direct to the hostel.
