Depending on when your flight lands, I would just head straight to Kandy rather than staying in Negombo cause it’s not the best, but if you do stay I’d go to Negombo Beach - just order a tuktuk there

I’d hire a tuktuk for the day (I will send you the contact details of the guy we had), they will take you to the main spots and you can do and see a lot in one day. If you choose to go with the guy I send, make sure it is him cause he told us his brother was coming as he was busy and we were like no we want you and we’re glad for it cause his brother was a drip. He let me drive the tuktuk🤣 if you do go with him ask if he remembers the girl he kept mocking for screaming round the corners 🤣 he brought us different foods to try 🥺
We went to Asgiriya temple, a spice and herbal garden, commonwealth war cemetery, a tea factory, Ambuluwawa tower, a wood carving shop and the big Buddha for sunset.
Would tip as well as it’s his whole days income 🥺
Get tickets to watch the cultural dance show, may as well whilst you’re there
Kandy lake is nice at sunset

Pack a hoodie as it gets chilly when the sun goes down cause it’s in the mountains
Only really need one full day really, get up early and do the tea plantation hike (Pekoe trail), we just followed one on Strava and ended at the waterfall
Remember suncream on the hike, I burnt baaaad without realising cause of it being in the mountains and a bit breezy but there’s no shade really
Would recommend laughing leopard hostel

I stayed at Talblick Valley with a girl I was travelling with and split the cost which was cheaper than a hostel, the location was pretty good.

Do the walk to the nine arch bridge and there’s a cafe you can walk up to and there’s an amazing view called Cafe Soul, but there’s a few you could go to,
A lot of people do little Adam’s peak, if you’re short on time I’d just do Ella’s rock.
There are free meditation sessions at Mahamevnawa Bandarawela Monestery - get a tuktuk up and then they will probably wait there for you and take you back down so they get the business & then you’re also not stranded up there. Not sure when the sessions are but it’s nice at sunset.

Udawalawe National Park Safari, Sri Lanka
I did this with a couple of girls I met on the way down to Hiriketiya rather than spending a night here cause there’s not a lot to do.
Make sure you have cash to pay the entrance fees
The driver will either wait or join onto the safari and then when you are done you carry on south.
This one is more ethical than Yala.
