Ferry from Upolu - 12pm head upstairs to the air con part, we were up the top and got sunburnt
Meet Uilau at Ferry Terminal - he got off the bikes, was a quick turnaround for the next ferry so felt hectic getting everything off. Group seemed a bit confused and kept asking questions…
Lunch stop at local restaurant, burgers etc on menu. Nice and clean. We left and rode to Amoa Resort
Stop at John Williams Memorial Pools (8km from Salelologa) - didn’t do this, but others in the group did and said it was nice because it was freshwater
Pass Amoa Resort (visit poolside Villa Rooms) - nice ‘fancy’
2PM arrive Lauiula for Umu demonstration more like 3:30PM by the time everyone arrived. Richard did lots of talking but was interesting hearing more about history of Samoa. Did repeat some of the same stuff with the coconuts but was relevant as used them to make dinner
Visit Blue Lagoon Accomodation - nice basic accommodation, ensuite right, right on the beach. Host was lovely, sat with him and chatted, offered us a coconut

Asanga pool - ran out of time
Accommodation - very basic, tarps on the walls, flapping in the wind, very windy. Toilets a bit scummy but the shower was surprising ok
20km ride, relatively flat, roads a bit busy
Stopped it get coconut from girls, took us to back of house to open it
Stopped near hospital to get coke, good shop and atm

Not any shops etc - maybe because it’s Sunday
Stopped at Well at Church (dry because all the women cheated on their husbands) think it’s in a volcano crater
Past Lava Church (10 Tala)
Stopped at Regina’s - boy/girl. Nicer than Liliana have ‘walls’ and grass outside so not so sandy. Bathrooms nicer
Stevensons - looked Villas very nice and clean big ensuite beachfront maybe 500 tala per night. Has pool and bar. Fales are also ensuited and a bit more upmarket
Vacations. Basic fales and ok ensuites. Also have air conditioned units but didn’t get to look at them

Asau, Samoa
Peapea Cave - 10tala, ok but I’ve been in better caves
Few Hills and is inland so no sea breeze, very hot up the hills but more rolling than big hills. Nice downhill into Asau
Stopped at freshwater pool 1km from Vaimoana- shop nearby got ice blocks
In Vaimoana look at Open/Garden Fales -
Open Fales maybe not so great, flax is a bit worst for wear and no closure at the front
Garden Fales enclosed walls, not meant to be ensuite but family has a toilet… no shower
Ask about Cocoa Plantation, not on Mondays, said there would be a village tour but didn’t let the group know. We waited but no one turned up so went for walk to shop. Good shop to the right. Went for a nosy in cocoa plantation but got asked to leave

Vaisala Hotel was an ok option, in a bay, rooms have aircon not as good as Vaimoana

Nice riding along palm trees off road
Then steep climb up out of Faleoulupo
Meg flat tyre. PJ very competent at changing it

Lady called…. Helping run it, very competent food English from NZ is a teacher
Normally it’s managed by her niece. It’s owned by her mum. Mum was there and she is the chief of the village, lovely little old lady
Snorkeling was good, but was low tide
Fales said to keep valuable behind the counter
Didn’t see any lurking men, were a few dog but they were relatively friendly

Palauli, Samoa
Lata Plantation - saw this from the road but no sign
Alofaago Blowholes - loved it, worth the 10 tala
Afu Agu Waterfalls, lovely to stop there are hot ride
Visit Aganoa Beach Fales (upgrade) - nice Fales, ensuite and proper bed. Also has proper bar. The road to Aganoa isn’t so great. Drivers don’t like heading down there
Ask to visit plantation… apparently don’t have one
Nice clean accommodation.
