Or - station is close to chatuchak - big cool market could check out and go there in the arvo and go to station from there. Could put bags in storage at the station (lock box bang sue grand station) then explore Chatuchak
Overnight train to surat thani - $26 for sleeper train (2nd class bed with fan) departs at 20:30 from Krung Thep aphiwat central station

Book passage from Surat Thani to kho Sok - $11 mini van departs from train station to Khao sok (13 min walk to the hostel)

If we do that then we can get the bus to surat Thani - $16 arrives 14:30, 15:40, 17:00, 19:50

Then sleeper train from surat thani to Bangkok - can get the one that leaves at 18:30 and arrives in Bangkok at 05:10 - best if we get the earlier buses into surat Thani
other option departs at 23:28 (arrives Bangkok at 10:50) which means hanging around at the train station or in surat Thani at night for a few hours (last bus into surat Thani 19:50)

Could take or leave Krabi - will add cost to get there as can only be done by mini van ($15) then will need to get back to surat Thani anyway to get to Bangkok ($25 minivan to surat thani) - might be nicer to just have a longer chiller stay in Khao Sok and Khao lak
