Hanoi, Vietnam
Mar 15 first 3hr plan
1️⃣ Start with Hoàn Kiếm Lake (Hồ Gươm) – ~45 mins
• Just a short walk from anywhere in the Old Quarter.
• Stroll around the lake, visit Ngọc Sơn Temple via the red-painted Húc Bridge.
• Great place to feel the local vibe with street performers, couples, and families.
• Sunset here (around 6:15 PM in mid-March) is beautiful.
2️⃣ Explore Old Quarter Streets – ~1 hr
• Wander along famous streets like Hàng Gai (Silk Street), Hàng Đào, Hàng Mã.
• You’ll see small shops, lanterns, handicrafts, and street vendors.
• Stop for a Vietnamese Egg Coffee (Cà phê trứng) at Café Giảng or Đinh Café – a must-try!
3️⃣ Dinner with Local Food – ~1 hr
Since it’s your first meal in Hà Nội, try one of these iconic dishes:
🍜 Phở Bò (Beef Pho) – Try Phở Bát Đàn (well-known, traditional style).
🍢 Bún Chả (Grilled Pork with Vermicelli) – Try Bún Chả Đắc Kim (67 Hàng Mành).
🥟 Side: Nem rán (fried spring rolls) often come with bún chả.
Both are within walking distance in the Old Quarter.
4️⃣ Optional Night Walk
• If you still have time/energy, walk towards Tạ Hiện Street (the “beer street”) – lively with both locals and travelers, good for people-watching and a late drink/snack.
✅ Summary for your first 3 hours:
• Stroll Hoàn Kiếm Lake & Ngọc Sơn Temple → Egg Coffee in Old Quarter → Dinner with Phở or Bún Chả → Optional Tạ Hiện Street.
