Rivas, Nicaragua

La Fortuna, Costa Rica
Good for waterfall/volcano hikes, rope swings, hanging bridges (like monteverde) and swimming spots. Might be a pain in the arse to get here but it's also the first stop in costa rica so it was going to be painful anyway. Buses do exist but it would be 4/5 changes potentially or a $66 shuttle
-
Monte Verde, Costa Rica
Hanging bridges obvs, zip lining is popular, cloud forest hike/night hike for animals. selvatura park is a well recommended place. Bus would take 8 hours to do and shuttle is $35
-
Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica
Visit the national park, surfing (better for beginners), white water rafting. Beaches/beach towns, mangrove kayaking. Would be very difficult to go from Santa Theresa but going from Monteverde is about 3.5hrs with a changeover bus
-
Uvita, Costa Rica
whale watching in jan - march, whale tail beach, waterfalls, envision festival (in Feb so might have to be prepared if we are booking). Direct bus from previous place
-
Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, Costa Rica
Jungle kayaking, jaguar rescue centre, chocolate making? Again would likely need to go through San Jose to get here. This may require some rethinking
