Yogyakarta, Indonesia
Hostel: Laura’s backpacker 253, would not really recommend, although the owner has a lot of tips to offer! I heard wonderland hostel is nice!
Day 1: visited the prambanan temple with scooter and drove to some viewpoints (bukit bintang, hutan pinus pengger, bukit lintang sewu). Evening was for spa (1h massage for 5€ @ flaurent salon (woman only)). Went to malioboro „night market“, it’s actually just a street full of people, not a must see but nice activity in the evening.
Day 2: went for some action to jomblang cave, was a fascinating place and adventurous experience!! Would go there again, 500k (20€), took the bus to Melang und the evening (6pm, around 11€)
Skipped Borobudur because it’s quite expensive (20€) and didn’t miss it :)
In general: not a lot of tourists (maybe because of off season?) and people and school classes want to take pictures with you all the time!!! Especially at the temples. Felt a bit uncomfortable walking around by myself, because everyone looked at me and wanted to talk to me, but still very safe!

Malang, Indonesia
Would only stay here for 1 night, visited the colourful villages, felt a bit uncomfortable again, went for coffee and chilled in the hostel. Dinner was fine too!

Mount Bromo, Indonesia
Did the 3 day tour with mador hostels. Would recommend doing a tour but ofc also possible on your own.
Day 1: tumpak sewu waterfall, VERY nice and impressive! Nice little hiking, wear sandals which are okay with water because your shoes (and also everything else :D) will get wet! Slept @ bromo camp & dormitory, very nice place
Day 2: pick up time 2am for mount bromo, was very very nice! Bring warm clothes. Slept in a hostel near ijen, but didn’t like it too much.
Day 3: pick up time 11:30 🥲 for volcano ijen, quite some hiking to the top, bring warm clothes but you will also sweat a lot, the going down to the crater to see the blue fire and the poison lake. Didn’t like it too much, because the smog burned even with the mask. Smelled awfully. Went back earlier because I couldn’t handle it. Pics from the others looked nice though! It’s one of the most dangerous (work)places, people there are really poor! :(

Ubud, Indonesia
Day 1: rented a scooter, visited Taman Beji Griya Waterfall (did a ceremony here, really recommend!!! Better than at this touristy place, was 300k (18€)). Had lunch nearby, went to a waterfall afterwards, watched sunset at a random rice field.
Day 2: did yoga @theyogabarn (really recommend going there), afterwards lunch @ pumpkin & beetroot cafe (quite nice healthy food, but nothing special around here), went with the scooter to cretya ubud & ceking rice terrace (one place), it’s really instagrammable & touristy, didn’t like it therefore, but it’s okay to spend a day at the pools (entry: 50k and expensive to drink something there), would rather go to another smaller place tbh
Day 3: just chilled, lunch @ lemongrass bisma warung (delicious and good prices), coffee @ pukako cafe (loved it! Near the rice field, very pretty, good coffee!) ☕️
Eightea looked pretty stunning, was in the kajeng rice fields! Before the fields is like a local „art“ market, basically some shops. You can bargain there, say at least half the price they offered. Got a skirt for 80k instead of 250k
Nice restaurant: ubud warung, gamma warung,

Gili Trawangan, Indonesia
From ubud with local taxi to Harbour (1,5h for 250k which is cheaper than Gojek, but started bargaining around 400), then took the ferry to gili t (via 12go Asia, around 11€).
Loved the island vibes, loved the hostel, extended for 3 more nights. Went diving @gili divers (recommendation by hostel, around 500k per dive, extra 150k for environment, beautiful dive at dive site halik and one other). Sunset point at the other side of the island, quite busy there but beautiful! Snorkeling everywhere possible.
Nice coffee place / restaurant: banyan tree (western very good food!!), coffee & thyme also good but liked banyan tree more

Lombok, Indonesia
Got a taxi for 350k from the ferry to Kuta (organized in gili t already), takes about 2h.
Day 1: went to warung ombak (cheap, walking distance, local food and burgers). Rented scootersg (30k from 3pm) and went to see the sunset in bukit merese (went to the beach pantai tanjung aan nearby before). I heard Kuta beach is not nice.
Day 2: went surfing to selong belanak beach for surfing lessons. 2h for 200k per person including a bed (bargaining). Then lunch warung BUDE (super cheap and super tasty!! Go there and eat nasi kuning).
Day 3: motorbike tour to Tetebatu rice terraces, children gave us a tour there, you need a guide because it’s a private ground (we “donated” 50k each, they asked I politely for 100k but we didn’t pay it, because they said it was a donation in the beginning).
Day 4: went scuba diving with adventure divers Lombok Kuta, did 2 dives near pink beach. Would recommend, we managed to pay 1.6 mio k but normally it is 1.8.
Day 5: went early back ti the Harbour (375k for 5 people).
Lombok is really cool and has nice surfer vibes 🤙

Nusa Penida, Indonesia

nusa lembongan, Indonesia
Paid 25k to go from the Harbour to the hostel (motorbike). After check in went to mushroom beach and dream beach. Had lunch at a local warung near the hostel.
We went to nusa cembongan the next day with the scooter (I think 70k is a good price) and saw the blue lagoon. Had lunch there. Didn’t do a lot tbh 🙃
Nusa lembongan is a really chilled place, nice beaches but often with boats so you can’t really swim nicely. I preferred nusa penida because it’s bigger and there is more to do, but maybe haven’t been to the right places in nusa L. Would recommend if you have time, nature is still VERY beautiful. Diving from nusa L is cheaper than from nusa P, although you go to the same places.
On my last day I went with the ferry to Bali (12go Asia) and then to uluwatu to get a tattoo (@hanabaanaana) and then flew home spontaneously one day earlier🤪
