Canyoneering at Kawasan Falls
Notes : The tourist loop.
Lots of people find it difficult to get around the Philippines because size of it and the number of islands. Most people fly into Manila as it’s the cheaper option. Flying into Cebu is a great option, you’ll probably end up there at some stage as it’s central to lots of places.
A great introduction to the islands which I call the tourist loop and can easily be done in two weeks or less.
Land in Cebu and get the bus from south bus terminal to Moalboal. There’s lots to do around here with Kawasan falls & canyoneering and the sardine run the main attractions. There’s also lots of other waterfall in the area Dao ,Inambakan falls, Kabutongan Falls and trek just to mention a few. There’s two areas to stay in Moalboal. Pangasama beach or the quieter but prettier white beach. I like to stay on white beach and go to Pangasama if you want livelier nightlife. From the main road in Moalboal town wave down any bus signposted Bato, change here for bus to Oslob, spend the night here for an early start to see the whale sharks. You accommodation wil arrange all this for you. Back to accommodation for breakfast and a shower and get the bus back to Bato for a tricycle ride to get the ferry to sibuluyan. Here it’s a quick tricycle ride to Dumaguette city port for ferry to Siquijor. We finished the whale sharks at 8.30 and were in Siquijor that afternoon.
Siquijor is fantastic laid back chilled island, a great place to hire a moped as the roads are good and quiet. Stay around the San Juan area as there’s nice beach bars and restaurants here. For day activities besides Chlling and doing nothing you have cambugahay falls A stunning waterfall is divided into three levels here, all including an enormous pool. The main pool has a couple of rope swings that will make it even more fun to spend some hours.
Paliton beach. Butterfly sanctuary up the hills is a great way to break up the track to the highest view point.
Lugnason falls is a great little secret to cool down and you’ll probably have the place to yourself. Salangdong cliff jump is a great buzz. Don’t leave Siquijor with a trip to Apo Island to swim with the turtles.
Ferry from here to Bohol. Alona beach is the main touristy area but the island is huge. Bohol has an airport if you want to fly back to Manila or take the fast craft back to Cebu. I’ve done a more indebt post on Bohol and the others I’ve mentioned above if you want to look back.
