Sepilok, Malaysia
Fly into Sadakan airport and then travel to Sepilok.
Sepilok is where we will find an orangutan rehabilitation centre. Also we will fall in love with sun bears- the world’s smallest bear at Sun Bear Conservation Centre.

Kinabatangan River, Malaysia
I suggest we do a 3D/2N stay at a riverside lodge where we go into the rainforest and attempt to see the Borneo big 5 in their natural habitat. This is think will be biggest expense and would be approximately £226 each for 3D2N Kinabatangan river safari at Hornbill lodge, Malaysia. It’s the one I found in the lonely planet guide and it looks incredible.
I did something like this in the Pantanal and it was one of the highlights of my life.
🦧 Big 5 are…
Orangutans
Pygmy Elephants
Proboscis Monkeys
Crocodiles
Hornbills
And more!!!

Sandakan, Malaysia
Return to Sepilok / Sadakan to chill- see anything else and then fly to Kota Kinabalu
-
Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia
There’s an incredibly beautiful mountain that can be climbed here. It’s a two day trip but just stupidly expensive (£200) so not sure that’s actually worth it. Instead we should climb sosodikan hill in kinabalu national park to watch sunrise hit mt kinabalu
Instead we can stay near the mountain for gorgeous views, waterfalls, hot springs- spend a couple days there. We can get a boat and go to gaya island for a day where we can snorkel, kayak and visit the marine conservation centre. There are 8 species of endangered giant clam to see

Darocotan Island, Philippines
I think we should go to this isolated island. No electricity if I remember correctly. Beautiful huts on the beach with amazing swimming etc

Port Barton, Philippines
-
Puerto Princesa, Philippines
Fly from Malaysia up to Manila and hopefully do a quick change so we avoid overnight in Manila the city as I don’t rate it
