Info about the castle For 500 years, until the English and Scottish crowns were united in 1603, Carlisle Castle was the principal fortress of England’s north-western border with Scotland. A mighty stronghold in the frequent conflict between the two countries, and the base of the lord wardens attempting to control an unruly frontier, it has endured more sieges than any other castle in England.
Outlander Season 1, Episode 15 ("Wentworth Prison")
In real life, the castle has deep ties to the Jacobite history central to Outlander. It was seized by Bonnie Prince Charlie’s forces in 1745 before being retaken by the Duke of Cumberland, after which many Jacobite rebels were imprisoned and executed there.

Info on hardians wall-
Hadrian's Wall was a 73-mile-long defensive frontier built by the Romans across northern England from AD 122, marking the northwest edge of the Roman Empire and separating Roman Britain from "barbarian" tribes in modern-day Scotland, featuring forts, milecastles, and turrets for control and observation. Commissioned by Emperor Hadrian for border consolidation, it was a significant engineering feat, initially turf in the west, later stone, with a ditch, patrol roads, and garrisons, serving as a customs barrier and military statement for nearly 300 years.
Route to Hadrian’s wall
