Day 1 - Temples and Traditional Streets
Morning: Start your day with a visit to Kinkaku-ji, the Golden Pavilion, where you can admire its stunning reflection on the surrounding pond. After that, explore the tranquil gardens before heading to Ryoan-ji to see the famous rock garden.
Afternoon: Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and then stroll through Arashiyama Bamboo Grove. The towering bamboo stalks create a serene atmosphere. Continue your exploration by visiting the nearby Tenryu-ji Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site with beautiful landscapes.
Evening: For dinner, savor kaiseki cuisine at a traditional inn. After your meal, take a leisurely walk along the Philosopher’s Path, enjoying the peaceful ambiance and perhaps stopping at a tea house for matcha.
Day 2 - Culture and Nature
Morning: Begin with a visit to Fushimi Inari Taisha, famous for its thousands of red torii gates. Hike up the mountain trail for beautiful views of the city.
Afternoon: After lunch, visit the Kyoto National Museum to appreciate good art and history. Spend the afternoon in Gion, the geisha district, wandering its historic streets and enjoying the traditional wooden machiya houses.
Evening: Dine at a local izakaya for an authentic Japanese experience. If time permits, catch a traditional kaiseki dinner in Gion, followed by a walk to see the illuminated Kiyomizu-dera Temple.
