Northern Thailand (Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Pai):
- Dry season – cool mornings (~15°C), warm days (~25–30°C)
- Very comfortable for trekking and exploring
Burning Season begins late Feb – you’ll avoid it.
Central/Southern Thailand (Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi, Khao Sok):
- Also dry season
- Highs of 30–32°C, humid but bearable
- Best beach weather on the Andaman Coast (Phuket, Krabi, Phi Phi)
Gulf Islands (Ko Samui, Ko Pha Ngan, Ko Tao):
- Just coming out of the tail end of monsoon
- Mid-Jan onward is generally good weather but may be patchy early on
- Sea crossings may be a bit choppy but usually safe
