GENERAL NOTES FIRST
•Cash is king, and atms charge 6-7 euro each time so best to try and take larger amounts at a time and leave some in your safe and bring out what you need every day.
•Scooter is 250BT per day so roughly €6. Really handy bc the islands aren’t huge. Worth it rather than moving around to different hotels / hostels on island!
•Buses/Ferry’s always try get a meal in before if not definitely bring snacks, some buses can be anywhere from 2-10+ hours and they might not stop or if they do could be somewhere crap! 7/11 is your best friend for travel days!
•Remember to bring longer skirt / pants and a top that covers shoulders just for some temples you need to be covered. Or pick it up at markets here that’s what i did super cheap.
•Tuk Tuks come in all forms, from like scooters with a side car, mini dump trucks with seats in the back can be really cheap and you can haggle, but don’t be afraid to say no especially if you check the price on grab! definitely more fun than a taxi! These are more prominent on the islands, regular taxis aren’t an option so just negotiate with them)

pad thai(classic pretty good don’t get all the time gets very boring)

~chicken and basil with rice(can be spicy but they always ask how you like so if you dont do spice well say no)
~any dish with crispy pork they do it so well or get as your meat in any of above,

~fried rice (always good, simple good with any meat)
~thai green curry (always slaps, again ask about spice level, they can make it less or more for you)
~massaman (really nice, has potatoes in it & the chicken usually is on the bone in this dish and falls off it’s a
ctually class)
BANGKOK
•Sawasdee House (€10 per night, good location, off khao san road, but not too close that’s in noisy! really comfy bed and really clean! there is a pool not in the hotel it’s 2 mins down the road that you can use for free!)
•The Golden Mount Temple ( 100 THB per person, pretty cool to see if looking for something to do, we walked it’s about 25 mins which is grand - don’t forget to cover up for this, so bring pants & a top even in your bag)
•Chinatown (Went for a stroll, grand a little underwhelming unless we missed something! maybe nicer at night?)
•Khao son road (Long strip with bars and clubs, mad and really loud, if you go down a little further you’ll find it’s a little quieter if you’re not up for a rave just yet)
•IconSiam (Ended up here by mistake but was the cool mistake! Got the wrong bus and ended up at this shopping centre but it’s unreal it has 7 floors, the bottom floor is this massive indoor market but it’s so fancy but still so cheap, then all the other floors are just shops and there’s a view on the 7th floor and one of the floors has like a mini art showing)
•Charlie’s massage parlour (On khao san road, really nice place always busy as well! Like €6 for a foot & leg massage!)

•Hey Darling - Had dinner here really nice and interior is gorgeous
•Myth - Had lunch here, think it’s two street down from khao san closest too hotel really nice and quite busy
•Market stalls on khao san road (just look for ones that are busy that’s kind of my rule with places like that)
•Tales - This is a cafe part of a hostel but they do really nice cheap brunch options
•Tani - Nice place for brunch also quite cheap

CHIANG MAI
•Hostel Lullaby (€12 per night only bc we had to pick a 4 bed dorm instead of 6 because there was none left so a bit dearer than usual! Really really clean, bathrooms and dorms spotless. Beds are so big and comfy & have privacy curtains. One of the best sleeps i had! Really close to the centre as well so everything accessible, they do free breakfast, free yoga & cooking classes & offer bikes (cycle) to borrow as well)
•Changpuak Boutique Hotel (€9 per night)
•Night Safari (Between getting there by grab/tuk tuk + entrance fee it’s roughly 1,000 THB per person - the actual trams through are good you get to see the animals really close, a giraffe came right up to the tram and stuck his head in!)
•Maerim Elephant Santuary (Booked this through the hostel & they gave us 100THB vouchers to use if we booked anything through them! Worked out as 1500THB including hotel pick up & drop off + lunch during the tour! Really enjoyed the day, the staff were so nice & the elephants are really looked after, you get to feed them, do mud baths & then go in the water with them! I liked that the elephants weren’t forced to stay in the mud baths or water for our own pleasure, if they didn’t want to they just get up and leave!) They also have a photographer there who takes pictures all day & you can buy them at the end they’re really good!)
•Cooking Class (We went with smile organic cookery school! It was €20 each for a half day evening course. We were collecting from hotel around 3 o’clock)
•Chaing mai go karting (Went bc it was close to carp cafe & we just didn’t have plans for that day! It’s about €11 karts go sooo fast and it’s good craic, stayed and played some pool after)
•ATV (Good craic, the guy leading us was a little too slow for our liking but it was still class going through a jungle on the quads and it had rained so there was massive puddles to go through as well)
•Grand Canyon Waterpark (Must do, savage craic! So much to do slides, challenges, jumps, trampolines! Zipling is also included - we got the atv & waterpark as a package for €60 each)

•Cafe de Thaan Aoan - Savage cheap little brunch place also went for dinner one night! But for breakfast it’s realllly good!
•Messa Cafe - Good for food but they also do cheap cocktails and good coffee! Big plus is they have a pool you can use once you buy something! Good if you’re just looking for somewhere to relax for a few hours
•Kats Kitchen -Really nice little restaurant only maybe 5 mins from hostel, really big portions & really tasty - a starter, two mains, 2 cokes & water was €8 all together
•Kalare Night Market - Savage food market, so much choice not just thai as well, really cheap
•Sunday Night Market - Not as much food but some nice little stalls we went and just got loads of little snacks before dinner
•Hard cocktail bar - Near hostel staff are so nice & drinks are good!
•Carp cafe - A bit out of the way we grabbed a taxi here it was 20 minutes but it’s savage, it’s the one with the bridges & ponds with hundreds of fish! we just went for a drink!
The inner cafe and bistro - 10/10 for a quality brunch or breakfast. In old town

•Banana Tree Hostel (€7 per night, dorms are extremely nice! Such a nice hostel! Food is amazing, nice a social great pool, pool table! Good happy hours! Perfect place to chill!
•An Thrang Boat Tour (Cool tour, think it was around €10? Pick route no.2 do not pick anything else! This route is 2 hours some of the others can be so much longer & honestly it’s not needed! You get brought around on a little boat and go through caves & see some temples! It’s really pretty there!)
•Rent Bikes (We got bicycles from the hostel really cheap! It’s a really nice place to cycle around for a few hours!)
•Anna’s Beauty (Got a massage here it was unreal! Staff are lovely & they gave us a cute little bag each and also a card for 15% off the next time)

•The Hostel (Food is just really nice here & we no had just finished the loop so we were knackered)
•Bahn Mi Hanoi (Very tasty bahn mis we went twice)

HANOI
•We came in and out of hanoi a few times so we stayed in a few different places! Old quarter is definitely the area to stay!
•Mad Monkey (€8.60 per night, all mm are similar they are pretty social and have events or activities on every evening! The dorms in this one were really nice)
•The Old Quarter View Hostel (€10.50 per night, little dearer for a hostel than usual but the dorms were nice & clean with comfy beds & curtains! In a really good location too)
•Hanoi Backpackers Hostel & Rooftop Bar (€7 per night i think, really social hostel and also in a good location!)
•Train Street (Follow to location on google maps (il share) when you get there there will probably be a military guy there but someone who owns one of the cafes on the street will bring you onto the tracks! You might have to wait but it’s really cool the trains are so close to you! Best to go in the evening!)
•Womens Museum (I was really bored and by myself this day so i went to it to kill and hour or so! It’s fine!)
Restaurants
•Bun Cha Ta - Went here twice, really good pho! The menu is really simple & it’s really good value for money! Pick option number one if you go it’s the best!
•Dreamers & Seekers - Nice brunch cafe, about €4/5 per dish depending on what you get but it’s pretty tasty relatively new place i think!
•Bao Wow - This was delicious! Not walking distance but hop in a grab for like €1 each, the baos are so good, we got two each & shared chips & the khung pao chicken!
•Bahn Mi 25 - Really popular place, might have to wait a bit but a really tasty bahn mi! Only like €1.50 or something!
•The Note Coffee - The famous coffee shop full of notes! Do good smoothies and has like 3/4 floors so you should get a seat!
•Lifted Brunch & Coffee - Verrrrry good brunch! Shaksuka was amazing! Also seem to do very good sandwiches! Coffees were amazing!
•The Hanoi Cafe - Another good breakfast spot! Reasonably priced!
•Chops - Burger spot close by, really tasty food!
CA BA/HA LONG BAY
•New Horizon Hotel (€8/€9 per night i think, hadn’t done a hotel in ages so it was needed! Good location walking distance to beach and owner is really nice)
•Ca ba is really chill to be honest, you really come here to do the ha long bay boat tour! A lot of people go after the loop to just relax!
•We booked the day trip to Ha Long Bay through Buffalo hostel bc we wanted a bit more of a livelier boat! €25 and included pick up/drop off & lunch & happy water! You get to do loads of swimming & kayaking through caves it’s pretty cool! Some people do the over night one depends how much time you have honestly 1 day is enough you’ll see everything!
HA GIANG LOOP
•Booked through Jasmine Hostel.
•Cannot explain how good the loop is, and Jasmine organise it so well! The home stays were all amazing, food was great! Drivers were all so good and friendly!
•A big thing you hear people who don’t go with Jasmine is that oh Jasmine is too big & too party etc! Completely disagree! We had a total of 90 people start the loop, but you are split into groups so for our tour there was 9 groups in total! Some had slightly more or less than others depending on 3/4 day tours and solo riders etc!
•Our group was made up of 12, so we only drove on the road with our group, we ate with our group & generally depending on the homestay you all stay in one big room or can be split into two rooms! It’s so nice because you get nice and close with your group!
•The biggest plus is that at night everyone comes together! The first night we had 4/5 groups in total in our homestay the other groups stayed in another. The second night all 9 groups stay together & the final night is made up of maybe 4/5 groups as some people finish on ray 3!
•So you get the best of both you get a nice size group to hang with during the day and get to know and then a night you get to mingle and meet so many people!
•I also think people think it’s wild in terms of you’d be partying till all hours! But every night the bar in the homestay has a closing hour & then there’s a bed curfew! Generally you get back to the home stays around 4/5 so you usually have a solid 5/6 hours drinking anyways but you’re never super hungover bc you’re in bed by 12 and up at 7:30/8 each morning!
•Total cost was €260 - this included our transfer from Hanoi to Jasmine hostel in Ha Giang! All our food for the 4 days breakfast lunch & dinner! The home stays, your driver their fuel etc! This also includes wherever you want to go to after the loop! So you can book a bus back to Hanoi, to Ninh Binh or Ha Long Bay completely up to you!
•All you need money for is drinks! So coffee during the day any fizzy drinks with food & obvs alcohol!

•Nu Ni Homestay (€7.50 pp/pn, very nice little hotel in the old town! Owner is really nice & helpful, rooms big & spacious with comfy beds! Can rent bicycles and scooters there & book tours)
•An Bang Beach (Nice beach, about a 25 minute cycle, which is flat & easy even in the heat! Beach has massive waves, and chairs to rent if you just buy a drink)
•Bao Diep (Tailor that sean got his suit made in, would seriously recommend i couldn’t get over the quality of his suit! It was made in less than 24hrs, went in for a fitting he wanted small alterations and went back that evening & it was perfect! They will ship it back to ireland for you as well which is a little expensive but I mean so worth it! It was a busy spot constantly people coming in & out and staff are so so friendly)
•Coconut Boats (Good activity, literally go down a little river and get spun around like a mad thing, it’s good craic & you do some grab fishing!)
•Cooking Class (Did this with the coconut boats it was a package for €25, woman who did the class was hilarious, and we made loads of food & got collected and dropped off, if you’ve a few hours it’s defo worth it! you can do a morning or afternoon course!)
•Latern Boats at Night (Cute little ride along the river, it’s €6 for 1-3 people, and it’s about 20 minutes, you can also buy little cardboard lanterns if you want to put them in the river too! Honestly looking around while on the boat it’s just fab)

•Madam Kharn - Bahn Mi Queen is the name that comes up on google maps, such tasty & cheap bahn mis seriously recommend the bbq pork one from here, just don’t get the pate if you’re not into that sort of thing like me!
•Bahn Mi Sum - Another really good bahn mi place, i got the chicken one from here so tasty!
•Morning Glory Original - Stunning restaurant, one of the nicest meals we had! Boujee inside but still so reasonably priced! Really recommend!
•Buttercup by Rosie’s Cafe - Must be same owners as below but has a different menu but food is still stunning, this one was much closer to us than the other one but still stunning!
•Rosie’s Cafe - Really recommend here for breakfast, one of the nicest iv had anywhere! Reasonably priced and big portion as well! Very very good!

•Bui Vien Street Hostel (€8 pp/pn for a 8 bed dorm! Really good location very central)
•Chu Chi Tunnels (Booked on get your guide it was about €16 per person! Really good half day tour, get to learn about why the tunnels were made, you get to crawl through some replica tunnels & go down one of them if you’re brave enough lol! I really enjoyed it!
•Saigon Post Office (Really cool building and inside has loads of souvenirs and you can pick a postcard, and send it home for about €2 really cute idea!)
•War Remanents Museum (Tickets for this are €2 and you can pay for an audio guide which we did but i don’t recommend i didn’t use it! I preferred walking around and reading it myself as the guide talks for way to long and has a really boring voice! Some pretty sad images but good to go before the tunnels to give yourself an idea of what you’re heading to)
•Ben Thanh Market (Massive market with everything and anything! If you need clothes/shoes bags this is the place to go! Honestly the quality of some of the stuff looks unreal)
•Bui Vien Walking Street (Crazy, just full of clubs and bars, a bit of techno vibes but if you walk down you will find somewhere a bit quieter where you can chill and get drunk!)

•Ben Nghe Street Food - This is like an indoor street food vendors kind of vibe! Really good food options and cheap enough as well! Would really recommend.
•Secret Garden - Recommended a lot by people! Really good food & really cute restaurant! A little bit pricier for a backpacker budget but nothing crazy cost us €24 for our feel including drinks!
•The Cafe Apartments - Literally a massive apartment block with loads of food/coffee places in the building! Really cool outside and lots of options & great view from any places at the front! We went to meraki for coffee & this poke bowl place too!
•ATM bar & cocktail - If you fancy really good cocktails, little outside where we’re staying but a grab there and back is very cheap! Let down that the ATM part was there but not a proper speak easy! There is a similar place called “The Telephone” so either or really!
•Little Hanoi Egg Cafe - Really popular cafe here, do the famous egg coffee and also do good breakfast & lunch bits!
DA LAT
•Dalat Backpackers Alley Hostel (€2/3 pp/pn, Good location, hostel dorms are decent and good size beds! Couldn’t resist paying €2 for a hostel tbh! Can rent motor bike for €5 and they do good happy hour & family dinners!)
•Crazy House (Actually don’t know how to describe this place, but it’s something fun to do to kill an hour! I think it was €2 each for entry.)
•Cable Car (Really enjoyed this it’s about €5 for the round trip, the views are great & at the other end when you get off there is really cool temples so if you’re interested maybe just make sure you’ve a tshirt with you)
•Swan Boats (Didn’t have enough time to do this but would be fun especially if weather was good, it’s literally a pedal boat that you get in and go around the river! I didn’t get a price)
•Waterfall & Alpine Coaster (This is really cool, the coasters are class and i loved how you can control the speed we went flying! There are two the newer one is kind of dear it’s like €10 round trip so brings you to one part of the waterfall and then you can get it back. The older one was €4 i think it’s a shorter course though! You can also do zip lining here & canyoning!)
•One More Cafe (One of the only places we ate as we didn’t have a lot of time here, but really good for brunch & reasonable)

•Samui Verticolour Chaweng- (€10 per person per night. Really nice hotel, pool area is savage, pool is so nice - pool bar does a happy hour! To get to where all the big main bars are it’s like 15 min walk, but there’s loads along the way both left and right when you come out! Worth it bc hotels we found closer a lot had complaints about noise! Rooms are cleaned every day, fresh sheets/towels! There are separate towels down at pool as well)

Then they bring you back to pier and they put on lunch for everyone & the food was unreal! it’s roughly €30-€35 euro each but we’ll worth it i think!
•Mauy Thai Boxing (Thai boxing matches, they’re on loads of nights during the week they go around on trucks advertising them! The one we went to was a professional one so it was a bit dearer like €30 but you see like 6 fights all different weights! It’s good craic!
•Chaweng Beach - Really nice, loads of beach bars along the way. See loads doing jet skis & water activities so loads to do!
•Wat Pai Laem (Temples)
•Big Buddha (What it says on the tin! Pretty cool!)
•Coco Tams (Fire Show - Unreal - Walk through Fisherman’s village to get here - Have to spend minimum 400BT to go in so €10 on food or drink and you get out at a table on the beach with bean bags! Shows are at 7 & 9 each night)
•The Cocoon View point (Restaurant we went on the way to the temples - Really nice, has an unreal view all around it & has a really cool hammock that hangs over the edge of the restaurant - food is really good they do lots of healthy options)

•Paperboat - Really nice restaurant went our first night! Not expensive and food was honestly so nice! The chicken cashew was unreal!

•Domingo Hostel (€15 per night higher because of full moon - basic hostel but if you’re here for full moon worth staying purely for “moss” he literally brings your around the entire island to all the best viewpoints, hidden beaches etc and best market for food! it’s literally his job in the hostel and he does it for free but we gave him a tip because he brought us around tor 4 days! Made a really good group to go to the parties with too!)
•420 Club (Viewpoint really good for sunset)
•Mae Haad Bay (Cool beach that has a sand bar connecting it to another tiny uninhabited island.)
•Secret Mountain (Hilltop bar, really cool has a pool and good for sunset also)
•2C Bar (Cool bar with unreal view, do really good shakes and smoothies)
•Bottle Beach Viewpoint (About a 1-2km hike up to this unreal view point, it’s almost like an obstacle course trying to get to it but the view is unreal! If you’re afraid of heights it’s kind of sketchy as the top is narrow but it’s really cool)
•Apichada (Rooftop bar - do nice food and have a really nice look out point really nice place to just chill for a while)
•Malibu Beach (Unreal kind of hidden, class water and has volley ball nets we played with a group and had great craic)
•Full moon (Obviously class, can be up to 20-30k people but honestly doesn’t feel as crowded as it sounds! Just a savage night, get your buckets outside though it’s cheaper)
•Jungle party (Kind of expensive for what it is, it’s a lead up party for the full moon, it’s like €25 which is outrageous considering the full moon party is like €5/€10! If you fancy a party go but it’s only really techno music)

•Gin Geng - Best food i had, massaman curry was to die for! Pretty new owner came out to us and asked how we found it she was so cute! Honestly one of the tastiest meals i had!
•Toms Kitchen - Great little spot next to our hostel, ate there a lot bc it was convenient!
•Night markets - Moss brought us to one which i need to get the name of, it was so good! and so so cheap!

KOH TAO
•Summer Hostel €9 per night (Stayed here bc it was recommended by a friend, staff are really friendly and helpful with booking things and renting scooters! Hostel dorm is just bunk beds with bathroom in each! They do do private rooms and these looked really nice)
•Oxygen Snorkelling Tour (Tour we booked through the hostel 650 baht and 250 baht extra if you want to go to the island off of kia tao which was worth it it’s stunning! really good tour got picked up and dropped off at hotel, left at 9:30 and back by 6! you get food on the boat two, 5 stops in total! Got to see loads of fish,turtles & baby sharks!
•360 view point (Can get here by bike, you’ve to pay 50bt to go up but you get a free drink i.e coke etc! Really nice views with hammocks and loads of areas to sit)
•Freedom Beach (I think we had to pay 50-100bt to get in here but it is a stunning beach! The money you pay also includes you getting a bed on the beach and other stuff i can’t remember!)

•Mint - Recommended by a friend is good food & cheap! I didn’t get thai from here but sean did and it was really nice & was near our hostel!
•Chu Chu - Sooooo nice really good food the crispy pork was the best iv had
•Juicy Burger - If you fancy some normal grub really good spot chicken burger is unreal

•Duck 995 - Recommended all over tik tok, don’t judge book by cover this place is savage noodles and duck is just unreal! and was like €2.50 for massive bowl of noodles!

Singapore, Singapore
Singapore’s weather is always hot and humid with occasional showers. The monsoon season is usually during June, and now in Nov-Dec.
The temperature would be as high as 33 degrees! So pls rem to bring sunblock and anything that could prevent you from getting burnt.
As for places to stay, you might want to stay in town area such as Orchard, Somerset (could be very expensive), Cityhall but Bugis is a good option too.
Singapore is super small and our train/ buses network is quite extensive so you don’t need to worry too much on transport, I attached the MRT train map for your convenience. We have grab (uber equivalent) and taxi here too.
As for places to visit maybe you would like to explore Jewel (a mall at the airport) with the indoor waterfall. Gardens by the bay too, they have different events on-going like now is the Avatar experience until 1st Jan 24.
Sentosa, east coast park if you love the beaches. Sentosa there’s lots of things to do if you do a search.
Universal studio in Sg is v small and packed, so if you are planning to go, please get the express pass.
Or you could just rent a bicycle and cycle around Marina Barrage area.
If you want to go for some night life, would be at Clarke Quay area. Atlas bar and Skai is pretty nice but cost a bomb!
Also we have huge varieties of food, from Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Thai, Mediterranean, western etc etc. But I think 1 thing you would like to try is chicken rice! It could be found everywhere.
Satay too, which is like meat skewers which is a Malay traditional dish.
