- [ ] Zurich card pourrais etre avantageux
- [ ] Explorer la vieille ville à pied: Begin at the southwest corner of the 1 Rudolf-Brun Brücke, a bridge named after Zurich’s first mayor who held the post from 1336 to 1360. Take the metal walkway along the Limmat, merging onto the cobbled street Schipfe. Along here you’ll pass 2 Schipfe 16, a city-owned restaurant and local products shop that’s also a social project.
Climb up Fortunagasse to 3 Lindenhof, a tree-shaded hilltop park with spectacular views. Watch the boules and chessplayers, then make your way to Schlüsselgasse, heading south to reach St Peterhofstatt, a lovely cobbled square on one side of which is 4 St Peterskirche. The 13th-century tower of this church has Europe’s largest clock face, 8.7m in diameter.
Thread your way through narrow Thermengasse to reach 5 Rathausbrücke, a pedestrian bridge named after the nearby town hall – it provides pleasant views up and down the Limmat. Cross the tram lines on Limmatquai and walk up cobbled Marktgasse, past 6 Urs Bergmann, a florist based in a picturesque old pharmacy. Turn right at the top of Marktgasse onto pedestrian Niederdorf; on the right is 7 Cabaret Voltaire, birthplace of Dada.
A little further on, take your pick between two historic and photogenic cafes: 8 Café & Conditorei 1842, based in the old Schober Confiserie, or the coffee-roasters 9 H Schwarzenbach, in business since 1864.
With a caffeinated spring in your step, continue to 10 Grossmünster. Having admired the cathedral’s stained-glass art, climb the 190 steps of the southern tower, the Karlsturm, to take in the cityscape. Back at ground level and from the terrace behind the cathedral, there’s a splendid view across to the slender glaucous spire of 11 Fraumünster.

The Männlichen Playground is Nestled high in the Swiss Alps, and day trip to Männlichen is the perfect adventure for every age (when we visited, we had my parents (70 and 68), and my three kids (2, 6 and 8!) in our group and everyone was more than able to hike and enjoy the views! The cow playground specifically you can spend 2-3 hours here with your kids and not be bored! There is so much to see and do without even counting a hike.

How to Spend a Day at Männlichen with kids in the Swiss Alps - 1 day Itinerary
Immediately upon departing the you depart the calbe car, be sure to ask someone to take your picture under the Männlichen “top of the alps” sign that overlooks the valley below.
Explore the famous Cow themed playground surrounded by breathtaking mountain views. You can book your ticket using the link below but it’s not necessary. We got our tickets when we got there and had no issues. The cable car hours vary depending on season so make sure to check the website for hours.
Pricing for Cable car: 58 CHF (Swiss Francs) for Adults Round trip Wengen <-> to Männlichen, 10 CHF for Kids round Trip. (As of February, 2025 that is about $65 US Dollars for adults and $11 for Kids).
We particularly enjoyed the Children’s Lieselotte trail- which started in Mannlichen at the top of the mountain when we got off the cable car, and ended in Holenstein- the halfway point down the mountain to Grindelwald.
Once you arrive in Holenstein- there is another amazing playground. You can enjoy before getting on the gondolas and going back up the mountain to Mannlichen where you started.
* 🚠 Access: Easily reached via cable car from Wengen or Grindelwald
* 🏔️ Scenic Views: Enjoy 360-degree views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau
* 🛝Play: this is a playground like you have never seen before, with a giant cow you can play inside, slides, climbing structures, a wooden bowling game, in-ground trampolines … we spent HOURS HERE!
* 🍔🍺Eat & Drink: there is a full service restaurant here, with tons of great options that your kids will love like burgers and fries, along with more traditional, Swiss dishes!

Start in Strasbourg, Alsace’s most iconic city. Marvel at the magnificent cathedral and rent an electric boat to see the historic centre from the water. From here, it’s an easy drive to Hunspach, one of the region’s most appealing villages. Or, head straight to the Parc Naturel Régional des Vosges du Nord to visit the superb Musée Lalique.
After a day in Strasbourg, speed south to pretty Colmar, which will take your breath away. From there, the Route des Vins beckons – allow at least a day, preferably two, to saunter along this famous wine trail. Should you want to explore a more secluded area, drive to the Sundgau, at the southern tip of Alsace.
