Madrid, Spain
For those arriving in Madrid on the 7th or earlier, and who are interested, I'll be leading a tour of the city on the 8th, and it's gonna be awesome! This is my favorite walking tour - 2.5 miles that effectively hits all the highlights of the Old Town of Madrid, including:
- Starting at the historical center of Madrid
- Stopping at a convent to pick up some pastries still made by nuns
- Visiting the Royal Palace
- Going by the world's oldest restaurant
- A quick duck into the cathedral (took over 100 years to build, and was consecrated by John Paul II)
- Standing in the middle of the Plaza Mayor, the center of tortures and executions during the Inquisition
- Lunch at my favorite food market in the world!!!
- Pictures at the oldest building in Madrid
- A visit to the Prado Museum, my favorite museum in Europe (yes, even more than the Louvre)
- Concluding at the 350-acre Retiro Park with its familes of peacocks and over 4,000 rose bushes.
