Murano, Italy
Enjoyed a tour with - " Get your Guide" boat tour for the day 5 hrs tour. Watched a Murano glass show on how glass is made. Spectacular - its a gift past on from generation to generation. The man that did the demonstration did not go for studies on how to do it but rather learnt from his father before him - very similar to gondolas in Venice. He demonstrated his skill of how to shape the glass into anything you wanted with this mixture of silica, soda, lime and potassium in a furnace at 1,500 degrees celsius. Gathering the molten liquid onto a blow pipe and manually shaping it using historic metal and pear wood and vibrant mineral color addictives.
-
Burano, Italy
We visited Burano on the same tour as Murano! Beautiful colorful houses and tasteful bakeries. We heard tales of how the name of Burano came to be. As the men had very little to do so drinking became a way of life in this town and so because they sometimes got too consumed by alchohol they had to find a way to make sure they made it home to the right wife, so that is how the colorful houses got their name from. So that the men knew where was home from the color of the house! We had a beautiful lunch here and i bought a lovely runner and cashmere scarf, some souvenirs. and some melting in your mouth biscuits from the bakery.

Verona, Italy
Verona 3 - 4th July
Picked up a car at the Venice airport after a wonderful taxi boat ride from Venice. Once again my husband did not disappoint with accomodation at Air Suites Hotel. The room and particularly the bath and double shower bathroom was a treat!
Everything in the room was fascinating to us and very modern and close to our style. We loved where they had their tv and the furniture of the room they chose. We were very comfortable so we took our time after having a big nap in preparation for our late night opera!!
Getting ready for the opera was relaxing and slow as Cas had booked the stay only 400m walk from the Opera arena. The arena was spectacular and buzzing with people and restaurants laughter and wine. We walked into the crowd dressed and feeling very good! Took some gorgeous photos and I am almost sure that I saw Stanley Tucci in the queue opposite us as we entered. Gate 66 was our entry number as we took our seats in the front few rows!! Great seating Cas…
Wow the Arena Verona is so gorgeous and filled with people all around the ruins are absolutely breath taking and there is still construction to make it even more spectacular is that is even possible - but I guess it is… The opera was so romantic and we got some day and night pics of the arena.
We were able to enjoy this beautiful opera under the stars with a breeze and a close snuggle. It was so full of high notes and beautiful singing and we could follow as they had the words in Italian and English on both ends of the stage. The stage was magical set up with beauty and art and colours of the Italian flag.
The opera ended 3 hrs later and after a couple of wines and water we realised we slept through dinner and had a Mc Donalds burger and chips on the way home like two naughty kids do after a lat night out - you can always count on Mackers to still be open! Very memorable night mi amor!

Milan, Italy
Milan 4-5 July
No itinerary for Milan - we winged accomodation on the day! Cas pulled some awesome strings yet again!!! He has done so well with all the planning and accommodations for the entire trip. Places to stay and the journey in getting there has been - SUPERB! Well Done my love - I am sooooooooo thankful for your generous heart and endless love - mi amour!
I was interested in what the shopping looks like in Milan so after we settled in for the night at Ramada Hotel. The next day after check out Cas insisted it was doable to drive 2.15 hrs in the opposite direction to our next adventure. We headed towards Genoa to visit Serravalle S Design Outlet!!!
It was huge and lots to see but also very expensive-… so after a yummy meal and look around ending with some delicious ‘chocolate Italiani’- gelato genio Italiano we headed out for Lake Como - Valassina
-
Lake Como, Italy
Lake Como 5 July - 8 July
Day 1 - Your beauty surrounds the mountain hill tops. Its whispers serenity - yield to my peace and beauty… to my love! Lake Como is surrounded by several spectacular valleys!
Hotel Il Perlo Lake Como in Bellagio - this accomodation, has been kind, friendly and very welcoming to us. This feels so homely and surreal.
Il Perlo translating to - ‘direct translation - The Pearl and The Perlo’ referring to the Perlo stream ( Toreente Perlo) a small river that flows down the hillside near the town of Bellagio on this gorgeous lake with breath taking views and stunning beauty.
Sitting under a vine and looking over at the beautiful hill tops has me so satisfied by your majestical splendour.
Last nights ,dinner overlooking the mountain and the lake with the cool breeze refreshing our exhausted bodies and the warm breeze behind us enwrapping us that we stay just where we are.
Breakfast was a slow start after a refreshing sleep in…. Sounds background music greets us as we step into the breakfast arena. Smiling faces and warm greetings from staff! Buongiorno! Breakfast is served well with everything and more. Loads of protein and coffee and fruit finished with a variety of croissants to choose from.
Today is a relaxed Big Day of R & R …. With nothing to do but relax and sit under the warm sun and cool breeze with mountains and an endless lake smiling at you… True Bliss to finish off our last days of this gorgeous holiday!
