🗺️ Route & Stops voor onderwegAangezien de weg volledig geasfalteerd is, hoef je de bandenspanning van je 4x4 voor dit stuk niet te verlagen (zet hem terug op asfaltspanning, ca. 2.0 - 2.2 bar).Stop 1: Tsumeb (na ca. 1 uur rijden)Wat te doen: Dit is een oude mijnstad en de ideale plek om grootschalig proviand in te slaan. Er is een grote SuperSpar en een Pick n Pay.Tip: Tank hier je 4x4 helemaal vol. Richting het noorden worden de tankstations schaarser.Stop 2: Grootfontein & Hoba Meteoriet (na ca. 2 uur rijden)Wat te doen: Maak een kleine omweg van ongeveer 20 minuten naar de Hoba Meteoriet. Dit is de grootste intacte meteoriet ter wereld (ca. 60 ton) die zo'n 80.000 jaar geleden op aarde is ingeslagen. Een indrukwekkend blok metaal/nikkel midden in de bush.De Vet Fence (Veterinaire Controlepost):Net ten zuiden van Rundu passeer je de Mururani Gate. Omdat je van zuid naar noord reist, zijn de controles hier heel mild. Reizigers die van noord naar zuid rijden mogen absoluut geen vlees meenemen (i.v.m. mond-en-klauwzeer), maar richting Rundu is dit meestal geen probleem.⛺ De beste campsites in Rundu (aan de rivier)Rundu zelf is een drukke, chaotische Afrikaanse grensstad. Je wilt hier niet in het centrum verblijven, maar net daarbuiten, direct aan de Kavango Rivier (de grens met Angola). Vanaf je campsite kijk je zo naar de overkant, waar de Angolese bevolking de was doet en vist in de rivier.1. Kaisosi River Lodge Campsite (Beste allround sfeer)De plekken: Prachtige, met gras begroeide kampeerplekken direct aan de rivier, schaduwrijk onder de bomen en voorzien van stroom en nette gedeelde sanitairgebouwen.Waarom hier: Het heeft een heerlijk houten terras aan het water en een goed restaurant. Perfect als je na een lange rit geen zin hebt om zelf te koken op je daktent.2. Je stapt aan het einde van de middag op een boot en vaart over de Kavango Rivier terwijl de zon spectaculair rood in het water zakt.
