Treinstation relatief ver van stadscentrum. Naast de bus (niet heel veel) ook mogelijk om via machine in 7-Eleven een taxi te bellen (ask staff to help if needed). Chiayi goed te lopen of fietsen.
Vanaf Chiayi de Alishan Forrest Railway, rijdt tot Shizilu maar beste uitstappen op Fenqihu en eventueel vanaf daar door met de bus. Of vanaf Chiayi County Bus Service ieder uur een bus naar Fenqihu en dagelijks 3/4 bussen naar Alishan.

Kenting National Park, Taiwan
The easiest way to reach Kenting is via Kaohsiung, although Kenting is officially in Pingtung. The Kenting Express Bus makes the 2,5 hour trip between Kaohsiung;s Zuoying HSR station and Kenting several times a day. Or share a taxi with others for roughly the price of NT400-450.
Swimming, snorkeling, hiking and foodtruck hopping. Sightseeing met fiets/scooter (maar: international driving permit with a motorcycle endorsement). Ook bussen tussen popular spots.

Met bus + taxi ca 90 minuten vanaf Kaohsiung. Ook te combineren met Cishan ca 20 min met taxi vanaf Meinong.
Wat te zien/doen p. 460 Lonely Planet, o.a. Cishan-Meinong Bike Path (it's a delight to cycle within and between the rural towns as the paths are designed with the towns' natural, cultural and historical sites in mind).

Vanaf Taichung bus 153 of 207 naar Guguan, vanaf Taichung HSR en TRA stations.
Mountain town 700-1000 m hoog (bestaat uit boven en onder gedeelte, met daartussen de Dajia river).

- Dakeng Scenic Area ('Taichung's Yangmingshan', trails 6-10 easier, ook Dakeng Hot Spring). Many buses go to trailheads 9 & 10 at Dakeng (stop at Taipower Dongshan Service on Dongshan Rd.), you need your own vehicle to reach other trailheads.
- Daxueshan Forest Recreation Area (Sacred Tree Trail, easy 2 km hike from the car park to Tianchi). *Yuanzui-Shaolai-Xiaoshue National Trail takes 2 days, but you could do shorter portions.

Hehuanshan, Taiwan
Hehuanshan in Nantou is Taiwan’s most accessible high mountain area. There’s nowhere else in Taiwan, or in all of East Asia for that matter, where you can literally drive a car or take a public bus to 3275 meters above sea level (Wuling Pass). Hehuanshan consists of five high mountain peaks, all of which are much easier to climb than almost all the other 100 Peaks of Taiwan.
I recently had an incredible stay at historic Songsyue Lodge, built for former president Chiang Kai-Shek at the base of the only ski resort Taiwan has ever had. That’s right – it even snows at Hehuanshan, at least once every year. When it happens, tourists and locals alike flock to see it.
Staying at the lodge, I witnessed one of the most beautiful sunrises I’ve ever seen, from right in front of the accommodation. It’s not easy to get a room there (click my link above to find out how), so many will stay at Cingjing Farm nearby and do a morning sunrise tour (see on KKday / Klook) or stargazing tour.
