Mountain Track
Climbing Ben Nevis on the Mountain Trail there is a good path going through green rolling hills.
Difficulty: Medium
Time: 7 hours
Distance: 14.5km / 9 miles (up and down)
The Mountain Track is often called the Pony Track or the Tourist Path. It is the quickest and easiest way up Ben Nevis.
This is the route most people wanting to climb the mountain should take. Having said that don’t underestimate how tiring it is. You have to climb up and down 1,200 metres.
From the visitors’ centre or Glen Nevis youth hostel it is straightforward to find the Ben Nevis trail head. It is an easy-to-follow path until you are nearly at the summit.
As you get close to the top the path disappears in the stones and shale.
On the way up this is not much of a problem but on the way down it can be harder to find where the main path starts. It is usually best just to look for the direction where most of the hikers are coming.

The Quiraing, United Kingdom
The Quiraing
Walking through the surreal landscape of the Quiraing is like stepping onto another planet. With its unique rock formations, hidden plateaus, and sweeping vistas, this hike is a photographer’s dream.
The hike can be done as a relatively straightforward out and back (3km), stopping at numerous viewpoints on the way. Alternatively if you want more of a challenge you can hike up into the centre of the Quiraing to see the incredible rock formations.
You can loop up and above the Quiraing but in my opinion this isn’t worth the extra effort, you’re better exploring the centre of the Quiraing and then coming back. I would recommend an early start to catch the best light and to avoid the busiest times on the trail.

The Old Man of Storr, United Kingdom
Old Man of Storr
One of Skye’s most iconic and popular hikes for good reason,
The Old Man of Storr offers jaw-dropping views back over an alien like landscape towards the Sound of Raasay and the Scottish mainland. It’s a must visit, which even in poor weather, never disappoints.
The path is well built and obvious path but can be still be a little uneven and boggy in sections. There is plenty of parking and there are toilets located at the start of the trail next to the roadside.
This is the most popular trail on the island and it will get busy. For that reason I would recommend heading hear for sunset or sunrise to not only beat the crowds but hopefully get the most impressive pictures and views.

Blà Bheinn, United Kingdom
Blà Bheinn - is part of the Red Cuillin Ridge and- stands apart from the rest of the Cuillin Ridge on Skye. The towering mountain is often overlooked but the summit has some of the best views in Scotland. Although non-technical, its steep gradients and rugged terrain demand serious effort, however the reward will hopefully be spectacular, panoramic views of the Cuillin.

Kilmarie, United Kingdom
Sgùrr na Stri
At 494 metres Sgùrr Na Strì is barely a blip on the Scottish landscape but what it lacks in height it certainly makes up for in views. The panorama from the summit is regarded as one of thee finest in britain, offering incredible views of the Cuillin ridge, Loch Coruisk, and the Small Isles.
There are two main ways to reach Sgurr na stri which i have outlined below. Both are long and quite difficult.
I have only hiked to Sgurr na Stri from Kilmarie. I would recommend this route over the one from Sligachan as its shorter in distance, more scenic, and can be combined with a stay at Camasunary bothy
Navigation from Camasunary beach to Sgùrr Na Strìcan be a little difficult and does involve crossing a river, so caution is advised and having the route to hand is essential.
from Kilmarie
