Petra District, Jordan
16-Nov: Morning: Check out from Dead Sea resort and head to Madaba (40 min) to see the Mosaic Map of the Holy Land.
Late Morning: Drive to Mount Nebo (15 min) for panoramic views over the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea — on clear days you can see all the way to Jerusalem.
Lunch: Stop in Karak or Dana along the King’s Highway. Karak has a famous Crusader Castle; Dana offers a scenic village and nature reserve views.
Afternoon: Continue along the King’s Highway with photo stops. This route winds through valleys and mountains, so it’s slower but far more scenic than the highway.
Evening: Arrive in Petra (Wadi Musa), check into your hotel, and have a relaxed dinner.
Travel time:
Direct Desert Highway: 3.5–4 hrs (fast)
King’s Highway with stops: 6 hrs+ (scenic, recommended for this day)
17-Nov: Petra Full-Day Plan with Hike
Morning
Enter through the Siq and see the Treasury (Al-Khazneh) early, before it gets crowded.
Continue along the main path past the Street of Facades and the Royal Tombs.
Late Morning – The Monastery Hike (Ad-Deir Trail)
From the Basin Restaurant area, take the Monastery Trail (approx. 800 rock steps).
This is a moderately challenging hike — around 45–60 minutes up, but steady and with plenty of photo spots.
The Monastery is huge and far less crowded than the Treasury.
Lunch
Picnic near the Monastery viewpoint, or have lunch at the Basin Restaurant (near trail start).
Afternoon – Optional Extension
High Place of Sacrifice Trail: Starts near the Royal Tombs and climbs for panoramic views over Petra.
This adds about 2–3 hours round trip but can be swapped in if you want more variety instead of returning the same way.
Return
Walk back along the main path to the Siq, catching late-afternoon light on the Treasury.
⛰ Trail details
Monastery Trail: ~4 km return from the Basin; 2–3 hours total with stops.
High Place of Sacrifice Trail: ~3.5 km loop; 2–3 hours total.
