Start the day as early as you can so that you can enjoy as much of Milan as possible. Catch a tram or bus to the city centre. We alighted at Via Orefici P.za Cordusio tram stop (lines 2, 12, 14, 16, 19). Breakfast or brunch like an Italian with a coffee and an accompanying pastry. You’ll find little cafes all over the place, so find one that takes your fancy.

It’s time to leave Milan and head for Lake Como. The easiest way of making the journey is by taking the train.
