Elephant Nature Park, Thailand
I arrived in Chiang Mai on the morning f the Sunday and reccieved a lift to the accommodation in a pickup truck with seats. It was a fun ride through the streets of Chiang Mai and having my first view of Thaiand. I was quite tired already but didnt want to sleep to avoid jetag so I decided to go to a local market with two other volunteers where they picked up stationary for their childcare volunteering. After arriving back I then relaxed, had dinner and then headed to te famous Sunday Market in the square which was so fun. I had my first mango sticky rice.
Monday began with a short orientation of the placement and what we were expected to do. We then went for an hours journey and I stuck my head of te window experiencing every second and taking in the sites of north Chiang mai. Seeing the elephants for the fat time was incredible. hey we’re magnificent And words cannot describe their beauty and intelligence. The day. Consists of walking the elephants across the river, cutting up their food and cleaning their enclosure. Following this we went for a cycle in the evening to explore the local area.
On the Tuesday we headed a land the day consisted of cutting up bamboo which was exhausting but rewarding at the end. In the afternoon we went for a walk with the elephants in the jungle and watched them roam around and playing with the dogs. It was a quiet day consisting of a delicious lunch and feeding the elephants.
On the Wednesday we began our morning with walking through the jungle watering the banana trees for elephant food at a later date. They should grow within a month however we did get lost for a while as there were many overgrown pathways. That afternoon we designed a mosaic of food for the elephants to eat which took so long but was so pretty and the elephants absolutely loved it. In the evening we went to the Univeristy market which was then followed by looking around bars in Chiang Mai.
Thurawas a super yurt day with cutting up elephants food in the morning and the afternoon folllowed by us going to a jungle cafe and sleeping on some nets. a quiet day after a busy day on Wednesday.
