Activities:
* Luang Prabang Night Market - good size market in the middle of town with lots of food options
* Kuang Si Waterfall - really pretty waterfalls and you walk through a sun bear sanctuary to get to it. You can go up to the top for an extra viewpoint but it has an extra charge. There’s also a butterfly house but we didn’t do this.
* Phousi Hill - Monastery in the centre of town, good to go and watch sunset/sunrise here (gets very busy so get there early)
* Cat cafe - cute cafe in town with good food. Owned by an American women who feeds the cats. They are free to roam and choose when they visit so you aren’t guaranteed to see/pet cats
* Bowling Alley - slightly out of town, known for being the only place that stays open for booze later, so much fun! Definitely fun evening activity, has bowling and archery as well
Other recommendations that we didn’t get to do:
* Alms Giving Ceremony - Wake up early morning and go to the bottom of Phousi Hill to give offerings - you can buy some rice from merchants on the street and sit on the path
* Tamarind - runs Laotian cooking classes
* Garden of Eden - craft shop that runs jewellery making workshop
* Pak Ou Caves - you can take a boat trip to some caves along the Mekong
We recommend taking the train from Luang Prabang to Vang Vieng as it’s much faster than the bus and apparently the roads are terrible. But the train has airport style security and you aren’t allowed to take aerosols, even in your main baggage.

Activities:
* Tubing - really fun and laid back experience. They take you to one end of the river and there’s bars stationed along the way that you can go up to if you want. Some parts of the river are quite shallow so be careful
* Long tail boat - half hour ride along the river very chilled great views really cheap see lots of wildlife too!
* Nam Xay viewpoint - awesome photo viewpoint with bike at the top, worth the sweaty climb. We rented an ATV to get to the viewpoint and the lagoons
* Blue Lagoons - there's lots of these around, we went to Blue Lagoon 1 and 3. Each one has a different vibe so you can just spend a day chilling. Some have tubes you can lounge in and huts, ziplining and restaurants. Some of them also have caves that you can hike to.
* Hot Air Balloon - great place to experience this, we really enjoyed it. I would recommend booking it early on as it won’t go ahead in bad weather so it gives you more chances to go.
* The Academy Training Restaurant - really nice meal for a good price! It's a chef training school so the meals are very reasonably priced and delicious.
* Big Sexy Mama - street food hut for Laos sandwiches which were really tasty and good value for money
* Elevate 9 - newly opened rooftop cocktail bar with tasty drinks and fun photo ops. Would probably be amazing at sunset.
* Bamboo Bistro Garden - decent food and cheap wine. Chilled outdoor area

Activities:
* firstly you could come early morning and fly out late at night. It wasn’t our favourite place not that much to do there
* COPE Visitor Centre - Free museum about the history of Laos bombings. Worth a visit.
* Victory Monument - can pay an extra fee to climb to the top. Great views and some interesting information inside
* Buddha Park - kind of outside of town. Wouldn’t rush there but a good use of a few hours as there’s not loads to do in the city
* Temples - many temples to explore around the city
* Tipsy Elephant - rooftop bar that looks out over the Thai border, nice spot to watch a sunset. Would recommend booking a table.

Fast boat up to Gili T (2 hrs) - We stayed in Gili T (my favourite island) but did the (snorkelling trip) which also took you over to Gili Meno and Gili Air for the day), Horse and carriage (avoid these!! They don’t look after the horses), Outdoor cinemas on the beach (free), There aren’t any bikes on the island so you just cycle everywhere.
